Hi ladies. My best friend has been told her embryo is monosomy 15. She really isn't sure whether to transfer the frozen embie or not. Please share if anyone had the same news and has had a healthy baby! I would really appreciate your advice so I can share with her. Thanks so much xx

Hi, I don't have a specific story of a healthy baby, and sadly our girl with a trisomy 15 died at 10 weeks in utero, but there is research that suggests that PGS tested embryos with monosomies or trisomies can lead to healthy babies who do not have genetic problems: thecut.com/2017/09/ivf-abno...
There are good scientific articles about pgs testing on remembryo.comIt speak a lot about mosaic embryos being able to correct but some research showed that if all surrounding cells show abnormality, the inside of the embryo is also abnormal in over 90% of cases. A chat to a genetics doctor might be helpful to discuss chances of this abnormality making it to the end of pregnancy. Some are more likely to survive than others. I think monosomy 155 is called Prader-Willy syndrom (depending if it is from mothers or fathers side. Good luck.
Unfortunately Chromosome 15 is a on the low priority list for transfer due to the risk of having a survivable chromosome issue
In the U.K. it would be very very difficult to get a clinic to agree to transfer it - maybe if it was a low level mosaic but definitely not if it was a high level mosaic or full abnormal
Whilst I’m sceptical of PGS testing (I’ve done it before and had no normals and decided not to test again and had twins) I still wouldn’t transfer one of the high risk ones
Thanks everyone. I have relayed this info to my friend and she is most grateful xx have a lovely weekend
