Hi Sonisnix- I did, using a company called Embryoport. They were fantastic and the whole process was stress free. I had to pick a courier off the receiving clinic’s list, worth checking with your clinic too. X
I had 3 to move- they didn’t work.. however during the thawing and transferring process, nothing flagged up as unusual. There is a risk during transportation but if it’s all done to plan I didn’t read about it affecting the embryos as they are kept in a frozen tank constantly . I would think there are enough statistics to show it’s safe. Maybe have a conversation with the couriers, read the paperwork and see how comfortable you feel x
Well there is always risk in moving embryos for example the tube holding the embryos can break like what happen to mine. After my first transfer with my clinic they send my embryos atotal of 8 embroys 6 untested and two PGS tested along with my husband sperms to storage which is in a different state from where we live. After i found out i was not pregnant i decided to try again but inorder to do so my embryos would have to shipped back to the fertility clinic. I did change clinic because i move and i wanted a doctor close to where i live. Long story short when my embryos reach to the new doctor i was called to be informed that one of the straws is broken at the top, the embryos are still in the straw but they were exposed( three embryos in that straw). The embryos was insurance but we waited to see which straw was broken. Thank goodness the straw that was broken was the one with the untested embryos. The PGS tested embryos which was the two i wanted to used was ok. I got pregnant with the two embryos so the straw with the three embryos that was broken at the top will be destroyed at some point after i give birth so wont know what type of damage they sustain if any and both the first fertility clinic and storage company got lucky that i won't have to sue them or collect the 20g insurance i place on them if got damaged during transport.
I moved some embryos from my NHS clinic to the private clinic for PGS testing. The Private clinic arranged the transfer and both clinics charged us but I was happy to pay just to get on with it! They had a courier company that provided the the carriers and chillers and it all went smoothly.I found out at a later date that it was actually the receptionist who went to the NHS clinic with the bag and picked them up, and took them back on the bus!! 😅
I know!! Hilarious! I was too relieved to be annoyed. Yes they were absolutely fine. We had all 8 tested and 6 came back PGS normal - I'm currently 9 weeks with the first one transferred (6th actual transfer) x
Hey. My situation is a little different but the transporing process is still the same for embryos as sperm. They're transported in cryo containers. Just today I've been making arrangements to move donor sperm from one clinic to another. What's surprised me the most is the cost! There's 0.2 miles distance between the clinic the sperm is currently at and the new clinic! They're on the same damn street, yet the total cost is £550. You have to pay both clinics and the courier. Insurance is also provided by the courier. I've decided to go with Embryoport, from a list of couriers provided by the current clinic and approved by receiving clinic.
Hi, we moved ours from an NHS clinic to a private clinic as the NHS clinic wasn’t doing private treatment due to Covid. I moved them myself as the clinics are only 40 mins away from each other!
I stupidly thought the shipper would be something small like a lunchbox, but it was enormous (as you can see from the picture) and quite heavy … heels were not a good choice that day!
