What were your symptoms in the TWW after medicated FET?

Hi everyone,

I'm 7 days into my TWW after having a 6 Day embryo transferred. The waiting is already driving me crazy! I've had quite a few symptoms after my FET, which I'd like to believe are pregnancy related but I'm also on a lot of progesterone so it could easily be that. A couple of hours after my transfer, I had flu like symptoms: chills, dizziness, nausea, fatigue and what felt like a fever but turned out not to be when I checked my temperature. That subsided after a couple of hours and the next day I was feeling much better. Between days 1-7, I've had mild cramping, lower abdominal twinging, bloating, lower back aches, what feels like pressure/congestion in my nose, tiredness despite getting enough sleep, very vivid dreams which I don't normally get, slightly tender breasts, light headedness and headaches. The only symptom I had from the oestrogen and progesterone I'd been taking before my transfer was mild cramping here and there.

I'm too scared to test early, but it'd be good to know what symptoms others who've done medicated FETs got and whether you think this was down to pregnancy or the medication you were taking?

Blocked nose and headaches are a sign eeeek I hope you get a BFP xxx

My first fresh round failed, I spoke to consultant earlier he said I can try estrogen next time with my frozen transfer, I'm new to all this and don't understand what benefits that will offer xx

Hi Flossybubble thanks for your reply. Really hoping it's a good sign, but you can never be too sure without testing.

Sorry your last transfer failed. That must be so hard. I really hope you get your BFP next cycle. For my FET, my clinic put me on oestrogen to thicken my lining and when my lining was a decent thickness they introduced progesterone too. My clinic told me that I'd have to keep taking oestrogen & progesterone until 12 weeks of pregnancy, if successful. I know that progesterone supports a pregnancy on an FET cycle where you don't ovulate, but I'm not sure what the oestrogen does either. Xx

Flossybubble in reply to Mudra85

No I'm not sure either, I thought the pregesterone pessaries thickened the lining, I'm going to call the clinic tomorrow and ask. So I'm in my forst natural cycle since all the injections etc, the clinic said I can start again straight away from my next period if I feel ready, apparently there isn't much difference price wise in adding in the oestrogen xx

I think the oestrogen thickens your lining and then the progesterone makes it receptive. Not exactly sure those two hormones work after a transfer though, other than progesterone supportive the pregnancy. Good luck with your next transfer. It sounds like you'll be there before you know it. Hopefully the oestrogen makes all the difference xx

My TWW symptoms were pretty intense and consisted of nausea, chills, breathlessness, tiredness and cramps. I am now 18 weeks pregnant with twins. Sounds like you have had pregnancy symptoms so far, fingers crossed. Wishing you all the best xx.

Thanks Essence1 , I thought the chills and other symptoms I had on the day of transfer were pretty rare, so you've made me feel better about that. Did you get those symptoms throughout your TWW or was it just here and there?

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! Wishing you all the very best xx

Hi Mudra85,I think I had the chills maybe 2-3 times during the TWW, I remember putting a blanket over my head to try and keep warm, shivering and my teeth chattering. I hope that this helps

😃.

We are 2ww buddies! I am 6pt5dt today. When are you going to test?

So far I had chills, lower back pain, pain all around my tummy, nausea, lightheaded, shortness of breath, tiredness. I had these symptoms mainly yesterday and today. So scared to get my hopes up for nothing! I hope we will both get our BFP! 🥰✨

My OTD is the 10th Aug, but as I'm working that day I think I'm going to test this weekend. Either way, I'm pretty terrified to test! When do you think you will test?

I'm completely with you on not wanting to get my hopes up! It's hard not to sometimes. Here's hoping we both get our BFPs!

Let's hope it's the same for you this time around! So many people who get no symptoms go on to get a positive. Good luck for your test on Thursday!

Hi ya i had a fet on 13th july, test day was 25th which was a BFP. on day 8 i had a tiny bit of blood wen i wiped which i assume was implantation. I also had a really blocked nose and when i blew it bloody, i also sneezed alot due to this. I have b/g twins from a previous fet and i had very similar symptoms regarding blocked nose and sneezing. Its a key symptoms as i believe blood vessels in nose swells in pregnancy. When is ur test day, wishing you so much luck xx

Mudra85 in reply to Littleflower82

Hi Littleflower82 congratulations on your BFP! I've had a very mild stuffy nose since about the first day after my transfer and I think you're right it can be a symptom due to blood vessels swelling in pregnancy. I'm just hoping it's due to the latter rather than all the progesterone I'm taking. I've read progesterone can also cause a stuffy nose. Thank for the luck and all the best with your pregnancy! Xx

Hello 2ww buddy 🙂 this wait is just so hard! I have felt like I have had no symptoms although today I have woken up feeling so hot and very slight period type cramps which has now worriede that me period is trying to start 😭 Apart from that I'm also having very vivid dreams and boobs slightly tender which started a day or so ago. I went to see my nan at her care home yesterday and had my temperature taken. The lady said.. "your temperature is 37.4, is that normal?" 🙈

Guessing it's just the progesterone though 🙄

Mudra85 in reply to M365

Hey fellow TWW buddy. Hopefully what you're experiencing are all symptoms of pregnancy, rather than your period showing up. The vivid dreams symptom is so weird. I found myself having super detailed and vivid dreams from about 1-2 days post transfer. You're temperature does sound like it's a little raised, although everyone's temperature is different. Fingers crossed these are all good signs and you get your BFP soon! When is your OTD?

🤞Thank you 😊 tonight the tears have started 😭 been managing to keep it together until now! OTD is Monday but going to test on Sunday

Hey, I just got my BFP 9dp5dt from a medicated frozen transfer and had zero symptoms for the whole TWW. I’m now 12dp5dt and still nothing. Kind of wish there was some sign! Xx

Congratulations on your BFP! Lots of people say they don't have symptoms that early on, but the symptoms, although sometimes unpleasant, are comforting for sure. All the best with your pregnancy xx

I had a Day 3 embryo transferred on Thursday so am in the middle of my 2WW as well. I'm like you, analysing every symptom wondering what it could be. So far I've had sore / tender boobs, slight cramping and bloating. I've been sneezing a lot but that could just be hayfever. My official test date is Thursday 12 August but I'm not sure if I can hold out till then! Good luck everyone who's on their wait xxx

Thank you for sharing! It's so hard to guess at what the result may be just going on symptoms. They can be different every time. This is why it drives us around the bend trying join the dots up.

I've had 4 transfers and am in very early pregnancy currently from the last one (other 3 failed). After all that I've come to the conclusion that symptoms during the 2WW mean nothing for me - after 2 of the failures I had practically nothing at all, and the other one was quite intense with twinges and other symptoms.... but they all had the same outcome. During the 4th one I just assumed it would fail and I didn't even pay attention, so I don't know if I had anything 😂!

Your symptoms sound promising!! I had one mock cycle, one failed FET, and one successful FET and am now 20 weeks! I was on estrogen and projesterone for all. For me, I had more “pregnancy symptoms” during my failed FET than my successful one, but looking back the main difference was that with my successful one I was more tired. I’d wake up in the morning after a good night’s sleep and be yawning within a few hours. It didn’t happen every day, maybe 2-3 mornings/afternoons during the 2WW, but enough to notice.

The stuffy nose thing has been something I’ve had since about 6 weeks; it’s definitely a pregnancy symptom that some women get early.

I had sore boobs and lightheadedness with all 3 cycles (I think it was the estrogen) and had more cramping toward the end of the 2WW with the failed cycle but this part is different for everyone— I’ve heard of MANY women who swore AF was coming and they still got their BFP.

So many pregnancy symptoms and PMS symptoms are the same + the extra meds really can mock many of them… it’s so hard to say what’s what, but there are a few symptoms you’ve listed here that make me think you might be on track for your BFP!! Fingers crossed for you!! The 2WW is so hard!

Congrats on your pregnancy and thanks for sharing what your symptoms were! That's really helpful! I've definitely had a lot of tiredness, even after having a great night's sleep. That's exactly it, it's so hard to differentiate between pregnancy, PMS and medication symptoms. It's been driving me nuts! Really hoping for a good news story at the end of this horrid TWW.

I think those sound very promising. I have had three pregnancies (2 chemical and 1 abnormal chromosome). The last one was from a FET. I tested early and nothing. Then got a BFP on OTD. But hcg was low and not doubling. So it ended in a chemical pregnancy. I am so hopeful for you. Stay positive and wishing for peace for you during your wait. Xo

Thank you and I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I really hope you get your BFP soon! Xx

Thank you! I realized I barely answered your question but the most telling sign for me was lower back pain. Everyone is different though so I think it is OK to be excited and hopeful with that in mind. Good luck! Send good news soon. Definitely praying for your BFP!

There's no sugar coating it, the TWW is horrid! I hope it goes quickly for you and that you get good news at the end of it! I've been too scared to test and was worried about testing too early, it being negative and that stressing me out even more. The temptation to test has been getting stronger in recent days though! Xxx
