I have been put on Metforin for recently diagnosed PCOS, I haven't had a period in over a year, I was given Norethisterone to bring on a period, I have taken this for 21 days and am now waiting for a period to begin, the question I am asking is has anyone else been in my position? we are TTC so wanting to know how long it took others to start ovulating/fall pregnant?

Hi. I assume you have had blood tests done and a scan to diagnose your PCOS. You may need to be under the care of an endocrinologist to stabalise your hormones, I son't know, but it would be worth asking. Good luck! Diane
Are you also taking myo-inositol for your PCOS? It can help regulate your cycle and prompt ovulation, and it also increases insulin sensitivity - all issues that tend to go hand-in-hand with PCOS.
Inofolic Alpha is a really good brand. I’d start taking it if you’re not already xx
Hi, I’m on metformin for pcos but I also take inofolic twice a day. Ivf is my only option and just about to start round 3 but I’d recommend inofolic too if you aren’t taking it already xx
Hi, I also have PCOS and am on Metformin. The only way I managed to conceive was through IVF but I read on some forums that other people managed to have children naturally thanks to a mixture of herbs and good sperm count and motility. I took Agnus Castus (aka Vitex) for about a year and it did help reduce my cycles to around 45 days but ovulation was still far in between and my hubby’s tests came back quite low, hence why we had to go down the ICSI route. There are options for us out there and our egg count is far higher than people who don’t suffer from PCOS so don’t lose hope! X
I was exactly in the same situation - PCOS with no period for over 9 months (after I stopped the pill it never returned). My GP out me on metformin which I hated, made me really sick. I took lots of vitamins and myo inositol but that didn’t help. When I started fertility treatment they recommended Clomid for 6 months but my Dr said chances to concieve are higher if you take it without a period (normally you take it day 2 to day 7 of your cycle). I thought I’d try and got pregnant in the very first cycle - 34 weeks on Sunday.
Before IVF clomid is definitely worth a try and there’s also letrozole which acts very similar.
With the metformin I would also check what kind of PCOS do you have (there’s at least 4 types) and metformin is an ok treatment for only one of them (if you have insulin resistence and are overweight but it doesn’t really work for the other types from what I know).
Good luck and don’t give up hope it can definitely happen without Ivf!
