Waiting for bad news I suspect

Hi ladies

I just had my scan this morning and have gone from 10 follicles, to 8 and today to 2 that are way too small and 2 others that are 17mm and 13mm so things are not looking very good. Our last cycle was cancelled as there were only 2 follicles and I'm waiting for a call from the clinic, I think they might want to cancel this one too. At 42 I'm not sure we will get a better response anyway, and this was our last attempt so I'm not sure holding it back will do much except make sure that we buy lots of drugs all over again to get the same result. I'm not sure what to do, whether to do our last attempt or wait one more month. Feeling pretty awful.

My only other possible angle is that I should be tried on short rather than long protocol.

Has anyone been in this position? Would you go ahead knowing it was your last go with not great odds or maybe push for a different protocol? I really don't know.

SharlyWarly, I don’t have experience with this, but just wanted to send you some love. My heart goes out to you as I can’t even imagine how you must be feeling. Hopefully somebody here has experience on this scenario 🤞

Thanks, I really appreciate it. My clinic have simply suggested doing another scan on Friday, I can't see there will be a lot of difference by then. It just seems to go on and on.....

I'm sure I can galvanise to feel more positive soon, just not at the mo :-(

Hi

My first cycle was a failed one. I ended up with 2 follicles but one had a cyst and the other was empty. This time round I have 8 follicles. Going in for my egg collection tomorrow so hoping for better news...some of the 8 were still very small at my scan. Which medicines are you taking?

I know it's heart breaking as I'm not sure what I'll do it if nothing is collected.

However have another scan hopefully those 17mm and 13mm will grow they say that they grow 1-2mm daily.

I don't know if this has helped me or not but I've started taking ubinquinol and having mizan massages and changed from gonal f (375) to menopur (450)

Sorry that you had a failed cycle too. It's rubbish - you don't even get started really and it's so expensive!!! Best of luck to you for tomorrow :-)

I'm already on the ubiquinol though not Mizan. I've got a feeling that being on the Gonal-f really isn't helping matters. Praying for a miracle right now!

It really is rubbish!

If you can switch to menopur try to do so. My consultants said that I should go down the donor route but I didn't/dont want to do to a few reasons...they were really reluctant but I'm glad I did...at least I know i have done what I can....life is so unfair sometimes.

I really hope you do get your miracle..Please keep us posted xx

The cycle was cancelled. The clinic were unhelpful which made me feel worse. Urrgghh! :-( I pushed for short protocol for next attempt and they agreed, not sure if they would have if I hadn't mentioned it so it will be menopur next time. Though it's a mix of 150 Gonal-f and 150 Menopur. Not sure if that's a good dosage or whether clinic are being conservative (I note that you were on 450).

No miracle this time for us, but I hope you had better luck than me with your scan x

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. I've got my fingers crossed for your next time.

Maybe the 150 of each is a good dosage they can up it if they need it.

As for me it didn't work again. They only collected one egg which turned out to be immature. I've got a follow up next week and I've asked to be seen by a different doctors as the doctors I have initially been too have been negative.

I don't know why I have empty follicles x

Oh that's so disappointing, I know you must being feeling gutted. You may have just been unlucky, it's hard to know when it's the second cycle (not that I want you to have lots and lots of cycles just to get to the bottom of it). I really hope you get some answers, or at least a pointer with the other doctor.

I'm pretty fed up but am starting to be able to turn myself around, again!!!

Good luck with your meeting next week :-)

Hi SharleyWarley. You could still be in with a chance, as your two follicles are nearly there. I agree that should you need to try again, perhaps go for a short protocol so you don’t switch off your ovaries too much. Thinking of you. Diane

Thanks :-) Let's see what happens, if anything, by Friday. Trying not to grump but I can't help it!
