It’s my first round of ivf with the nhs. I had egg collection on Wednesday and had 7 eggs retrieved. Day 1 phonecall was 6/7 mature and 3 fertilised. My clinic book you in for transfer on day 3 if u have only 1 fertilised and day 5 if u have more. I asked about a day 3 update and they don’t do them. So we have to wait until a couple of hours before transfer to find out if any made it. Has anyone else been in the same situation? I’m worried that without a day 3 update we could get to day 5 and none have made it.
Any stories or advice please xxx

We had to wait 5 days too. We just found out we got one embryo. We started with 5 eggs and 4 fertilized over night but on day 5 we only have one embryo. They say it's the magic number. Keep us posted!! Best of luck!!
No not yet, I guess we have to wait for the results of the genetic test. I didn't even know they do that! I thought I had egg retrieval and than shortly after, transfer.
Are u nhs? I didn’t know they done testing either. With ours aslong as we have Atleast 1 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻on day 5 I get it back in that day. My phonecall is booked for 10am and transfer 12:30 so just keeping everything crossed for good news! X
Aww amazing where abouts in the u.s. are u from? It’s awful that many countries don’t have free healthcare like us! We get 3 free rounds of nhs here xx
I had to wait 5 days too! They called in the morning to give me an update. Out of 6 egg, 5 were mature, 3 fertilized and none made it to day 5. Saddest phone call I ever received in my life!!! Hope yours make it! Stay positive!!!
Aww I’m so sorry to hear that 😞 did they give u any information before hand? I was thinking maybe if it’s not looking good they might ring on day 3 to do a transfer on that day. The embryologist on day 1 said no news is good news. How gutting waiting until the morning of transfer to find out that. Hope ur doing ok ❤️ X
I'm ok now. Waiting for my 2nd period to arrive so we can start to register for a new treatment. They put me on some kind of medicine to start it. My doctor said the same, no news is good news.
I will do thank you. And keep me updated with urs too! This can be such a lonely process I’ve found this a Mumsnet a godsend to talk to people who understand x
Exactly! is sooo devastating but when you find others that went through almost the same situations like you...you feel like you're not alone and that some people understand your pain better than anybody
Was that your first time? A lot of people told me they didn't make it to day 5 on the first try either. They even said it was like a trial run. It's still sad though
I know how you feel! Anger and disappointment are hand and hand with sadness!!!!! Life is hard but be strong, God had his plans for everyone of us. I know that anything I say will make you feel better but I can assure you I'm a good listener...sooo I'm here!!!!!
You’re the best with your kind words. I agree that God has plans for us. I believe what’s meant to be. It’s just hard not to know what they are. The doctor said maybe we should do an egg doner. I never really thought about it. Our insurance only covers two rounds so they’re checking to see if we can do one more or we’ll have to wait till next year. That just really sucks.
I was lucky. We have 3 free ivf rounds but because our eggs didn't make it to day 5 they didn't count it! I was thinking at using if our next rounds doesn't end well, an egg donor or a sperm donor. Life makes you think at things you never thought will ever experience. Today I was thinking at how much I loved children since I was a little child but never in my life I have ever thought that having one of my own will be such a struggle.
It’s so hit and miss isn’t it by the forums I’ve been on! My friend has just had her first ivf got 3 eggs out and 1 made it to day 5 and transferred. Then on a forum I’m on someone got 20+ eggs out and none made it. It just shows every body is sooo different doesn’t it! X
Hey Im in exactly the same boat its so hard waiting until the morning of scheduled transfer to find out if any have made it. Just wanted to say best of luck with your journey and hope everything works out for you, try and stay positive xxx
Thank you so much! And right back at u ❤️ How many eggs/fertilised eggs did u get? Did ur clinic say they would ring if bad news or u would literally find out either way on day 5? It’s so hard not to worry isn’t it! X
They basically said the same that no news is good news but basically we wont know anything until day 5 which is tomorrow. Ive been a bag of nerves all week Im not even sure if they actually check on their progress until day 5 just hoping that at least 1 makes it xxx
Awww u will be! Not long now bet u don’t sleep tonight! Are u booked in for transfer same day? How many fertilised did u have? Keep me updated I’ll keep everything crossed for u xx
Hi we had 7 fertilised but not had any updates since day 1 so no idea how many if any are still in the game. Transfer is booked for 10am tomorrow morning so praying we dont get a phone call beforehand with bad news and we have something to transfer. The wait and the unknown is so hard. Xxx
It is so hard! I can’t imagine how unsettled u are tonight! 7 is good odds so I’ll keep everything crossed that u get ur transfer tomorrow ❤️ The only god send is it’s in the morning so less time for u to stress! Is this ur first round too? Hopefully u can get some sleep tonight then it will be 10am before u know it xx
Hi just thought id update you we made transfer this morning and the embroyologist confirmed that they literally do not disturb the embroyos until day 5 (unless you pay for caremaps) and if they had have found an issue the would have rang me first thing this morning to let me know. Good luck with your transfer and hope the wait goes quickly for you xxx
Aww congratulations on ur transfer ❤️ Hope ur tww goes fast and u get ur BFP very soon! Thank you we hear Monday so only tomorrow to go! I’m a bag of nerves. It’s strange isn’t it that they don’t know what’s happening until day 5 either. I was on edge today thinking they might of checked them and phone if none had made it to day 3. Totally overthinking everything. Take care of urself and ur little embryo ❤️❤️ X
We weren’t NHS we were private. They booked us in for day 3 transfer unless non was progressing well. We transferred perfect day 3 and only had one on day 5. Which we froze. Our day 3 didn’t work but our day 5 day. Currently 31 weeks with 3BC. Sending you lots of baby dust that you get some good news on day 5 x
Thank you for ur kind words! That’s amazing congratulations mama!!!!!!! I’ve just been saying to my OH I suppose they are just trying to give us the best chance with a day 5. Ur proof it only takes one day 5 ❤️❤️❤️ X
Morning hope ur doing ok! Yesterday we had our day 5 phonecall they said when they checked them in day 3 one had disintegrated. When they checked the other two on day 5 one was going slow (about a day behind) so unable to transfer or freeze. And the other made it to blastocyst 🥰🥰🥰 so was transferred and hoping little miracle sticks 🤞🏻🙏🏻❤️ X
Just incase anyone is going through this a worried. My clinic said they always check them on day 3 and if there is more than one in the running they won’t ring. So like they said originally ‘no news is good news’ on day 3.
Thank you so much! I’m over the moon ❤️ Just praying it sticks now 🙏🏻 X
It seems to be the common thing now. I have had 5 rounds with my own eggs and had calls on days 1,2 &3. However just doing a donor cycle with my sister and we only got the day 1 update and didn’t know what we had until in the room to have transfer. However they would have called if none. 17 eggs collected, 12 mature, 9fertilised, 2 blastocysts transferred day 5 and 2 frozen day 6. I found it easier not having the calls but that’s because I have experienced them in the past. Wishing you lots of luck 🍀 x
Thank you! Ano can’t win really can we I’m stressed about not getting one but I think I’d be stressed getting them everyday too! Hope ur tww flys over and u get ur BFP very soon ❤️ X
