Smear test during FET

Hi all, I am due to have my FET transfer on Tuesday next week and my next smear test is also due. Is it okay to have it done in the days leading to transfer day? Thanks

Hi ZessB, my gut instinct would be no, as when they do a smear I believe they take a biopsy of the cervix which would damage it right before transfer. Double check with your clinic though.

I would say it won’t be an issue leading upto it. If you have a viable pregnancy then the cervix closes and a plug forms.

You definitely can’t have one during pregnancy as mine is due next month, and the midwife said I’d have to wait until 6 weeks after our baby is born.

But like Sazzle said check with your clinic first

HelloI asked the same question of my clinic just last week. I'm about to start another FET and my smear test is booked just before it. My clinic said it wasnt a problem as they just scrape a bit of the cervix and it doesnt impact on the womb.
