I have had this. It happened to me on my first ever smear. I had to have a the bad cells removed (don’t panic, I was put to sleep and didn’t feel a thing)..this was about 4 years ago and absolutely fine since.

Please try not to panic. It’s very common. Xx

It’s my first ever smear too! I really hope I don’t have to have that as I hate the needle of being put to sleep 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 thank you xxx

Im the same! It might not even come to that so hope I haven’t worried you. It’s such a common thing. When do you find out your results? Please don’t panic xx

Hi I had borderline on my first smear then normal for the next two which were every 6 months after the first one. Then 3 years later I had severe changes luckily came back as nothing sinister. I had them removed but unlike kirstyblue I was not put to sleep. I hope you get some results soon thinking of you. Here if you want to talk xx

Hi. Please don’t worry. I’ve had treatment for abnormal smears. The last just 4 weeks ago. I had lletz treatment which was carried out in clinic with a local anaesthetic. It was fine. Don’t worry about it. Best to get sorted now. X

I also had mildly abnormal smear several years ago. They told me that this needs to be observed and I had another one 3 months after and this one came back completely normal without any intervention. It was roughly 10 years ago and I did not have anything any more since then (where I am coming from smears are done at a much more regular basis than in the UK).

I had it happen, then had to have them every 6 months but after that they were normal. Try not to worry, best to get it seen. Hope it’s all ok xxx

Same here. I had CIN 3 and had a colposcopy after my first smear. I wasn’t put to sleep to have my procedure but it didn’t hurt at all. I’ve had all normal smears since and have also had a successful pregnancy. I’m sure things will be fine so try not to worry. It’s good that you’ve been for a smear and it’s been found as at least it can be treated xx

Yes. I had severe cell changes in 2013. I had the affected area treated/removed and a biopsy was carried out at the same time. My smears have been clear ever since xx

I had a smear in 2010 which came back with abnormal cells (this was my first abnormal one). I went in they looked at them with dye and took a biopsy, within 3 weeks i was back in and had the affected area removed with LLetz as they were cin 3 (pre cancerous cells - so not cancerous) and 6 months after my smears were back to normal and have been ever since. Mine was all dealt with within 6 weeks from my smear, i was impressed at how quickly they worked. I understand your worry, but they know what they are doing so hopefully it will have been caught early and they can keep and eye on it (if not so bad) or treat it if necessary. Good luck with your results xx

Try not to worry too much. These slightly abnormal cells can rectify themselves and they will keep a close eys on you to make sure, 6 monthly smears. If you do require treatment then it will all be done very swiftly. I had 6 monthly smears for ages and eventually required treatment but it wasnt bad. This has happened to quite a few friends too so its very common.xx

I have. They had to re-do the test. The 2nd test everything came back normal. Try not to worry too much. x
