1ST CYCLE FAILED

Hey everyone, I’m kind of looking some reassurance after my 1st failed cycle! I’m a little different to most of you so let me explain

I am a single person who is going through my ivf journey as a single person, I am using donor sperm! My AMH level is 10.6 and I’m 31 years old! Everything in the beginning seemed positive with my predicted success rate being 50–60 percent as per consultant!

During IVF stimulation I responded poorly, which resulted in 2 follicles ( doctor feels this could be due to previous tummy tuck scaring) I’m now advised to injected next cycle in my legs. I was lucky and got 1 egg which made its way to a blastocyst 3AB .

I felt so sure with all my symptoms that I would get a positive but I tested on say 6 and it was negative I tested every day until day 10 and took AF . Likely symptoms were due to progesterone pessaries!

I can accept the 1st cycle didn’t work and hope I respond better to my next cycle which I’m hoping after my review with my doctor will be end of June all being well.

I have not stopped googling and panicking that my body isn’t receptive to carry, likely I’m just being silly and should accept it can take several goes. But I am driving myself insane worrying

Sorry for the long post, any post I’ve stories advise or any kind of positive steps going forward I would really appreciate!

In this journey please know that you are absolute warriors and I take my hat off to all of you as this is mentally and physically difficult!

Thank you for reading 🥰

Hello. I understand you are anxious about the cycles. It took my 3 cycles before I was able to get pregnant ( currently 37 weeks). Hang in there. It’s easy to get discouraged but it’s worth it in the end. After my 2 failed cycles I was wondering if it would ever happen but I’m glad I tried again. Good luck 🤗

Hey love I have just had a failed cycle my first one too! I have been finding it hard to and been feeling ok sometimes and really down and low other times. It’s such a hard journey! I don’t have any advice but wanted to say you’re not alone me and lots of ladies are going through this daily, but there are lots of positive stories of hope! It’s so hard the first round and hopefully it will get easier for us and we will one day get our BFP.’ Ladies have recommended this book I am going to start reading Marisa Peer Trying to get Pregnant (and Succeeding).

Good luck and strength xx

Hey, I know, I don’t think I fully prepared myself for failure as I was told I’m young and I had a good womb etc.. the process itself is so draining and exhausting those meds also cause extreme fatigue!

I am hoping this cycle is different.. I have an appointment with my consultant on Friday! I just hope we get a better outcome next time! 🥰🥰🥰

Hi, I'm also single using donor sperm and am currently pregnant after my 3rd IVF try but I'm also 12 years older than you so you definitely have age on your side! It's so hard not to go down the rabbit hole of wondering why the cycle didn't work and all the potential reasons so I know exactly how you feel. The first cycle is generally where they are trying to figure out how your body responds in general and then they can adjust the next cycle to get better results. All you can do is try and prepare your body as much as possible with diet and a few supplements but after that the IVF hormones take over! It's a really hard process to go through and harder on your own sometimes. It takes a bit of time to pick yourself up after this loss and then facing into the next one will seem a bit easier I hope. Hopefully next one is the one!

Thank you so much! I think I tried to be positive, and failure wasn’t an option! But going into this cycle I will be more realistic! It’s hard, but hearing all your amazing stories of success does help! Best of luck with your pregnancy 🥰

I had 4 IVF cycle to be successful in the end, maybe will sound silly what I will say but is a reality, first cycle is more of a trial and next one or one's will become more real. Doctors don't know much about your body so they usually go for standard protocol and in time that are adjusting with your needs. You are young so have all the changes in the world to be successful. Don't panic and take conclusions just yet, you are receptive to carry don't you worry. I had 3 chemical pregnancies and I never worried once that I cannot carry, didn't even want to think about that. Take care and don't lose your hopes 💕🥰

Thank you so much for taking time to reply to my post! It’s crazy how my mind has taken over in a negative way I was so positive and convinced that it would work. But, in a way maybe a reality check was needed of how precious a baby really is. Fingers crossed for next time 🥰

Hey!

I tested after my 1st cycle of IVF (FET) this weekend and unfortunately this round failed for us too. I really don't have any advice to offer but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing, it honestly helps to know there are other superwomen out there in the same boat.

I like to think of this as the practice round and we're just one step closer to our dream!

💜

Hi

Your amh seems fine and your still of a young age, when your doctor advised that the reason for low response could be scarring did he give you any further info? I just wonder why he pointed to that being a potential cause. I have a huge scar on my stomach and have had so many stomach surgerys over the years, it did cause me to have a left hydro and adhesions but the scars did not impact my cycle at all. I am 34 and have amh 11.4 so not largely different from you

Hopefully they are able to change your protocol or medication slightly for better results. I had short protocol, 300 Gonal F for 11 days and started cetrotide on day 6.

I am sure you will get there, it is the first cycle so hopefully they have learned something about they right treatment for you x

My scaring is quite bad I need a revision surgery I think it may impact the absorption of the medication but I was only on gonal 150 and luveris 75mg and cetrotide from day 6 I didn’t respond well and last few days upped 225 of gonal

Hi! I am single and 10 years older. I had 3 unsuccessful transfers as I have a problem with thin lining. All I can advise is - do not stress and lose hope. Keep positive. You can improve egg quality. I took q10 and melatonin. I am sure when they change your protocol youll respond better. Good luck!
