Extreme TSH level changes after IVF

Hi, I had a failed round of IVF - stopped using the pessaries after the 2WW one month ago. I just had another Thyroid test with my GP as I wanted to check my levels again before booking my next ivf. They have gone from 3.4 in august to 93!! The most shocking rise. Has anyone else come across crazy high TSH after a round of IVF?

I have started taking vitamin supplements too - so I am going to check all of these for whether they might be the reason ...

Anyone else with a similar experience would be great to hear from you.

Thanks

Hi lovely, my levels increased a lot during my FET, but they also came back down very quickly after a dose increase. It only took 5 days for them to drop from almost 10. You must be feeling poorly with levels of 93, have they increased your thyroxine dose? x

My thyroid levels were 'normal' previously. So it's really weird. I'm reading though that what I was told was normal - 3.4 and 4.2 in August last year are not optimum for conception. Feel so frustrated as due to postcode lottery I've had to pay £6000 for my treatment only to understand that it would never have worked and my thyroid should have been checked just before treatment again - which was last month. I'm currently taking a lot of supplements in prep for my next round (abroad this time), wondering if those could be I ....

I relate! My clinic were never overly concerned with my TSH levels either and in the end I had to manage my own levels by going for constant bloods and bombarding my GP with research to get my dose increased. It's not impossible to become pregnant with levels slightly elevated, so I really hope you have success with your next round x

thank you, that's really good to know. I just hope I get to the bottom of this surge too...going to ask them to measure again this week in case it was a faulty test and then also try and get it down of course. thanks so much for responding. feels wrong nagging the doctors, but good to have reassurance that it's needed ... x

You absolutely have to keep pestering!! You just have to look out for yourself and be your own advocate, don't feel like you're being a pain because it's so important to get it right! Good luck with it all lovely x

Wow Same here... mine came to nearly £7000 😩and cycle ended in MC. We have since been told I should have had thyroid and NK cells checked before treatment. Both could have contributed to my pregnancy loss. I have been tested this week so now patiently waiting for the results NK cell test was done privately but thyroid was done on NHS

Good luck with your treatment abroad

What is the NK test? Maybe I should get that done too

NK cells are our natural killer cells which can either expel a pregnancy or prevent implantation. Although I haven’t had my results yet from what I’ve read/researched I’m glad I’ve been told about it before my next cycle. There’s so much information on google, have a read. Test costed £258 😩 small price to pay if this was my issue as it can be treated.

Good luck on ur next cycle.

Hi, have you had your full Thyroid panel tested including Thyroid antibodies?

It sounds you may be having a flare up of Hashimoto's xx

Hi I've been on thyroxin for years, when I had my first round my thyroid wasn't managed properly. My clinic abroad wernt great about it but I made sure this time I went straight to gp after to agree a level of thyroxin. It's really important to get it right. I double checked this time and didn't want to go ahead unless my thyroid was optimum.

Thank you. Going to badger them now. Just feel like time is slipping through my fingers. Just turned 41 and it feels so urgent. I can believe they didn't check my levels just before my treatment ...
