Embryo transfer - dos and don’t

I’m having an embryo transferred tomorrow which I’m beyond excited about and have taken the next few days off work.

Does anyone know if you can lie in the sun post transfer at all? Shame to miss the amazing weather but wouldn’t risk it if it was dangerous.

Swimming I understand is a no no! Do you think I could swim this evening or not worth the risk?

Any recommendations of what you can and can’t do in the two week wait very welcome.

Thanks

Good luck for tomorrow 🍀

I would avoid swimming, and I think sun would be fine so long as you don’t get yourself too hot and bothered! So if you know you’re no good In the sun, then shade it!

I think generally taking it easy is a good way forward post transfer. I like to take a nice slow walk, eat lots of good food and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Always kept my feet warm (even in this warm weather, I still sleep with bed socks) and generally remove as much day-to-day stress as possible. I would also make sure I was taking my meds religiously and getting good sleep - so I’d get into bed early, read then try get a solid 8 hours in.

Maybe try some daily meditation if that helps you to relax? Or just binge on a great Netflix series! Xx

Ok great that’s just the sort of thing I was planning on doing.

Hey Indigoa, I’m on 5DP5DT so I just had mine too . I ask my doctor the same thing and she’s pretty non chalant about the whole thing and shrugged and said just to do everything normal. They don’t even let you lie down for a bit post transfer as they think it doesn’t make a difference. Anyway I translated ‘be normal’ to treat yourself and so I treated myself to all the things I like so my little air bubble can be happy because I’m happy. Cut alcohol of course but still drinking caffeine once every day , no raw fish and no baths. But these are things I looked up. I be also avoided lying down for too long and tried to take walks to increase circulation. That’s it. It’s all personal and whatever keeps you physically and mentally fit. Hope my waffling helps x

I had my transfer yesterday and went swimming! The clinic said carry on as normal, they advised to wait 48h after egg collection but didn’t say anything about not swimming after transfer. I figured I wasn’t exerting myself & it gets the blood flowing

Relax as much as you can. I highly recommend accupuncture before and after transfer too

Good luck!I had mine yesterday and plan to sit and read a book in the sunshine today. Im guessing you just have to be careful you don’t get burnt so your body is purely focused on making a lovely snuggly home for the embie. I was advised no extreme heat from hot tubs or baths and no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise, otherwise you can do everything normal.Enjoy your time after all your hard work to date! X

I don’t get told at my clinic what grade my embryos are. I just got told it had thawed and remained 100 percent in tact so that’s a positive start as this is our final embryo. Just come out of the clinic now 😬 Good luck. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Aw this is amazing news for you 🙏🏼 I wish you so much luck too ❤️ To be honest I wish my clinic did the same as I’d rather just know they were both blastocyst’s as I’m obsessing over grading, it’s torture 🤦🏻‍♀️ Xxx

My clinic specifically said avoid sunbathing but I’m sure there is a lot of conflicting advice. I’m erring on the side of caution and sit in the shade.

How’s everyone who had transfers yesterday feeling. I feel normal. Been taking it super easy and had Accupuncture but literally nothing to report otherwise. Eek

Ok here thanks. So different to my fresh transfer when I was in a world of pain due to what I believe was over stimulation. This time I feel so much better. Like nothing has happened!

I’ve been taking it easy too. I went for a 25 min walk with the dog but other than that, very little. Had my post transfer acupuncture today too and everything seemed positive in terms of my pulses etc! Day 1...done (almost!!!)

Glad you’ve had a restful day. Keep us posted during the dreaded two weeks!🤞🏼
