Low maturation rate, what should I discuss with the consultant?

As the title said the number of mature eggs is always very low (4/7, 6/10, 5/8, so never more than 60%), despite using a dual trigger, both of them at full dose.

I have discussed in vitro maturation with the embryologist, who said that results are not that great and they don't do/suggest it, and it is a problem better discussed with the consultant.

Has anyone experienced this? What did you do that improved your maturation rate? What should I ask my consultant?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I have similar problems to you although my worst cycle was 33%. My best gave me 70% maturity which i was really pleased with.

For this one i was given a dual trigger (2 x ovitrelle plus suprecur) and the instructions were to wait an extra day before triggering. I assume that means the follicles are left to get slightly larger than they would for most people. I also did accupuncture in the run up.

Do you mind me asking which trigger drugs you have been given? I was switched to ovitrelle from gonasi as it contains 6250 of the drug vs 5000 so you get a bigger boost.

I hope that helps.

The doctor said that he would wait until the hormones allow it, so I guess this includes the extra day you are mentioning? I will investigate!

I used10000 IU Gonasi (2x5000) plus Supracur 1ml. I may propose 2x6250 Ovitrelle, to get the extra boost. My eggs collection was after 37h, yours?

Many thanks for sharing your story xxx

Oh that's interesting as i only had 0.5 suprecur. Worth asking about the ovitrelle though. My worst cycle was with 2 x 5000 gonasi but i have read that these drugs just differ from person to person.

I've read the same, but still worth asking! Thanks again! xxx

Just to give some update. Before I could mention 2xOvitrelle, the doctor suggested 3x5000 Gonasi, without Supracur. Starting the next cycle in a few days, let's see what happens xx

Hi! I spoke to an embryologist about this and she said 60% of eggs being mature is very normal. I was worried because 5/8 of mine were mature x

So we got the same numbers, but different opinions from the embryologists... How funny! Thanks for sharing this! xxx
