Low maturity rate & extracellular debris - confused?

I had EC yesterday, which went ok. Still in a bit of pain, but so glad the injections are over.

Just had Day 1 results and my maturity rate is about 50% - exactly the same as my last failed cycle where we didn’t achieve a single blastocyst.

The doctor put me on a higher dose of Gonal this time and delayed the EC, but my maturity rate is still the same. Apparently maturity rates should be 60% - 80% and mine is below average. Does this indicate poor egg quality? Why did my higher dose/protocol have no impact? What does this mean? I am so scared and confused.

Day 1 report also shows high degree heterogeneous cytoplasm in two eggs and that all oocytes contain extracellular debris. The doctor didn’t really explain what this means. I am meeting him again today to discuss further. Does anyone know? What are the causes? Will this impact embryo development?

I am so scared we won’t get a single blastocyst again. Over the last three months we have done everything: no alcohol, healthy eating, lots of ubiquinol.

The last two weeks on high doses of Gonal and Menopur have been hell - what if it is all for nothing? All that money wasted? My body and mind traumatised for nothing? Why can’t we even get past the first stage?

He didn’t really say anything helpful. Just shows me some graphs and said it was a minor flaw.

I was too distraught to push him for a straight answer xx
