Fluttering & 18.5w pregnant (ICSI)

Hi all,

This is such a rough journey and I'm sorry if this post is insensitive to anyone reading.

I'm now 18 weeks and 5 days pregnant, but still no fluttering! I know another 2 IVF ladies who are just as far gone as me, and are experiencing strong flutters.

My 20w scan isn't until 26th May, so I was wondering if this is normal... or should I go have it checked out privately?

This forum has offered me so much support throughout the whole ICSI cycle and I just wish I could stop worrying 24/7 :)!

Yeah totally normal some can’t feel anything until after 20w movement it’s so slight to start with.

Hello,

Totally normal, many women don’t feel anything until 22weeks. You also need to consider the position of the placenta, if it’s anterior, those women often don’t feel movement until later as the placenta is in the way, all perfectly fine it just means you won’t feel movement as early as some other people. Hi lovely, my midwife said I may start to feel fluttering between 18 and 20 weeks. When reading about it some ladies feel it later than that so plenty of time yet ❤️ I have been lucky that from very early on I haven’t had sickness or anything but because I have felt so normal it’s the scans that make it feel real As you know there is always something to always worry about but we got this!! Xxx

Hi Jonesy, I'm the same - I have not had any symptoms whatsoever (besides the weight gain!), so I'm anxiously waiting for the flutters! :)

We got our first little flutters the night of my 19 week scan. Two others in my nct group said they got theirs at 20 weeks. It won't be long, just a matter of patience I reckon

Thank you! I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and probably will run out of patience by then :D

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and I think I started feeling something yesterday but equally could have just been nothing. I had a scan at 16 weeks and it turns out I have an anterior placenta, so it's at the front and acting as a cushion between me and baby, which is why I haven't been really feeling anything. I'm so jealous of everyone that can feel their baby and at the same time desperate to know that it's still going strong in there so I can stop paying for scans!!

I also went for a private 16w scan and they said I've got low-laying placenta which will hopefully move up by next week!

But yes, having placenta in the wrong place is another worry you do not need when being on this journey!

I remember with my first people reporting movement WAY before I did. Don't stress honestly your icsi journey will make you extra neurotic about it all please trust in it being ok and try and cultivate the excitement you deserve. Believe me when the little wotsit is kicking the life out of you in 3rd trimester you will look back and laugh

I had ICSI too, started feeling flutters the day after my 20 week scan (which was actually about 20 weeks 4 days)

Now 38 weeks - no mistaking movements 🤣

Feels like there's another 3 years until my 20-week scan :D.. which is actually next Wednesday!

Congratulations and I'm so glad to hear how far you are!
