Back to back egg collection advice

A friend is doing mild IVF and is doing 3 egg collections before doing a transfer. She has asked about the possibility of starting her next cycle after her withdrawal bleed from her first egg collection. I just wondered if anyone has done this and had any thoughts on the pros and cons of it? Appreciate your body can sometimes need a break but would value people's thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Lisbie - hope you are well! I've done a fresh cycle from a transfer withdrawal bleed and it was absolutely fine. I never find the stims too hard so it worked for me - there were no negative side affects (as far as I know).... I think it depends on what your friend's clinic says as some won't allow it. xx

Thank you for this really appreciate it - I'll let her know! They will allow it which is great she's just trying to decide whether or not it's the best way to go xx

I think if she can handle it mentally then do it! Xx

I did a cycle straight after my IVF cycle that ended in BFN, the doctor encouraged me to continue as I hadn't gotten pregnant and my age (39). Just finished the egg retrieval process for second one which went well so glad I followed their advice.

Obviously the con is that your body is taking a battering hormone wise, despite my initial hesitancy I found that I didn't mind as I knew what to expect and hadn't "forgotten" things and if course it meant the journey is shorter.

Thank you for your reply and insight into your journey - she's 44 so keen not to waste any time if she can avoid it and aware that the clinic may say she needs a break between cycles next time. Good luck with your journey xx

Yes I did back to back egg collections but with natural modified IVF- my clinic wouldn’t have allowed it on a mild IVF package

Thanks - appreciate this. It’s really interesting as I think you’re at the same clinic as my friend (from the previous posts I’ve seen, not necessarily the same location) and they’re letting her do it if she’d like to! xx

I think it very much depends on the dose of drugs? Low dose stims then going back to back is ok or if e2 levels and progesterone stay relatively Low
