Opinions on the Lister /clinic recommendations pls (on private message)

Is anyone using the Lister? How do you find it? I’m wanting to move on from NHS treatment and read that the lister was best for older patients but I’m so frustrated with the admin there. No one ever calls me back when I leave messages, the secure email system is a pain in the backside and we haven’t even had our first consult yet.

Given its private treatment and will have a hefty price tag, I do expect a basic level of service. Am I asking too much to be called/emailed back?

I didn’t have a great experience with the Lister, although I know many have.

When I went there in Jan 2020 I found out from the Sonographer (not my consultant who I had an appointment with straight after) that my AMH was 0.4 and my AFC was 1.

Even though my appointment with the consultant was immediately after my scan, I had to wait an hour...now frantically googling low AMH and getting quite distressed.

Both my OE cycles with them had glaring issues, and both times the IVF was converted to IUI due to very poor monitoring on their part which meant that both times I ended up ovulating before egg collection.

(The only person who was absolutely fab was the sonographer, Liz. She wasn’t the sonographer for my initial scan but once I found her I made sure to stick with her).

Neither cycle was successful.

However, I never had an issue with the admin side - other than I had to provide them with my Smear results four times.

Most of the time, I emailed my consultant’s secretary and she was amazing. (The secure messaging is a bit of a faff, but I understand why they need it.) Otherwise I was usually able to get through by phone and get my query answered or got a call back in a reasonable timeframe.

Sorry you’re experiencing this. This journey is hard enough without the clinics making it even worse for us xx

They were great with me. I used them in july/aug 2020, and was successful. I didnt have any issues on the admin side, only thing if im nit picking was the covid test we had to have last min twice, but that was them being over cautious. I found i was monitored heavily with them (almost a but too much as i kept having to go in for scans and bloods) but im glad they did as they caught my ovulation perfectly. Any questions i sent via email we’re responded to very quickly by the consultants secretary. The embryologists were really prompt at phoning each morning on embryo uodates etc.

I left the Lister after two (very expensive) cycles, which brought me 5 embryos: 1 failed to implant, 1 was a miscarriage at 11 weeks after which I PGS tested the other 3 which were all abnormal 🙈

I didn’t like the fact that you only see the doctor one to discuss your protocol ( and speaking to ladies it’s all the same protocol for everybody), then it’s all nurses and when you have a question they check with the ‘on call’ doctor and get back to you (why the on call and not mine?)

I felt like a ‘number’, very poor personalised approach...and after two failed cycles (and lots of heartache...and money!) all my doctor could say (after turning up 20 minutes late to a video consultation worth £160) was ‘there’s nothing wrong with you you just need to try again’

Im sorry but given my age (39 at the time) they should have done further testing...maybe re test my AMH and not just keep doing the same protocol over and over at about £15k per cycle!!!

I don’t recommend them...I’m sorry to give you such a negative outlook but I really don’t think they’re worth the money or their reputation!!!

Good luck xx

Hi. Please don't mention clinics by name, as it is seen as advertising. User the private message route. Thanks. Diane
