Endometrial biopsy/scratch: what has been your experience?

I have had 2 failed FETs. My consultant has given me a load of options as add ons for our next fet. I was thinking of doing the scratch because it's the only one that had any shred of evidence as well as PGT-A .

What has your experience been of it? Would you recommend it?

Hiya. We did the scratch before ivf - it was recommended while we were TTC.... in our case it didn’t help - we ended up doing IVF. But there are loads of possible reasons for that . in terms of the procedure itself it was fine, I don’t think any pain or anything like that.... :)

Thank you for your reply. It is so hard to know when there is no direct evidence.

I had the scratch as part of NK cell testing and I got pregnant the month after - but miscarried. We then did ICSI and PGTA due to 5 miscarriages. I had one failed FET in december with PGTA normal embryo so next FET we did the scratch and I'm now pregnant so I can't say it was definitely the scratch but personally I think it's worth a try!

Thank you and congratulations! I am leaning towards it because I feel like I need to do something different this time to improve the chances. So far I have had 2 medicated cycles and none of my embryos implanted. Enjoy the next stage!

I had the scratch and was part of a study to see how effective it was. I was successful with it, however, when I asked for the results of the research they found no clear evidence. That was 4 years ago so things might have changed. This time round I didn’t have the scratch - test day is Friday.

I think it improves your chances of live birth by 5% according to my consultant. He was very clear that they are add ons and if I was with the NHS, they wouldn't even offer or suggest it at this stage.

Wishing you best of luck with your test!

Thank you, I’ve got everything crossed. It could be worth a try then. It did hurt but it only takes 10 seconds. Wish you luck whatever you choose to do x
