Hello everyone. I just had my third cycle of ivf fail (1 fresh embryo and two frozen 5 day embryos). I am 30 years old and the doctors keep saying everything looks good I have no problem it seems ( I did ivf because my boyfriend has low sperm ). Why is it not working? I know its only a matter of faith but. if there. is. any other complications i do not know of. Could someone explain to me I am starting to get very depressed desperate.
Thank you all and good luck to everyone on this journey

Hi Yellowbellow. If you haven't already tried, theen perhaps taking some low dose aspirin or heparin injections would help with blood flow to the womb lining and help to prevent any clot formation. I assume you had IVF/ICSI as your boyufriend has sperm issues. Obviously, I hope that all works well next time. Diane
My husband has poor sperm morphology so we did IVF ICSI. We’ve had three transfers that resulted in 2x failed and 1x chemical pregnancy (with a double embryo transfer). With my third transfer, I took heparin and aspirin which is what I think helped get us to at least implantation before it ended in a chemical pregnancy.
I’ve no known fertility issues, I’m always been told that everything looks good and healthy and is in working order. I do have a raised TSH but that’s been under control for a while.
I’ve got my follow up in 10 mins and I’m asking what further tests can be done such as genetic testing, karotyping, immunology panel to name a few... my doctor doesn’t feel there’s anything hiding and feels it’s more a case of luck. But I like to leave no stone unturned so it’s always worth an ask to your doctor to see what they think too. Something for you to maybe think about?
I’ve also booked two consultations with other clinics for a second and third opinion to help put my mind at ease that we are doing everything we can to make this work. Lots of clinics do things differently so no harm in exploring your options and researching.
Looks like we have a very similar experience except they refuse to transfer more than one embryo at a time. I will defo look into heparin and aspirin which was never talked about. Is it something I need a prescription for ?
As for asking my doctor I will ask him but he always answer the same thing « up to faith etc « .
Maybe you are right asking second opinions might be something to look into.
In any case thanks for the help and precious advice and I wish you all the best and courage through this difficult journey.
I had an autoimmune panel (for something unrelated to fertility) that showed my anti-cardiolipin was raised. That doctor shared my test results with my fertility doctor and she prescribed me heparin and aspirin. You could ask for it regardless as a previous gynaecologist told me that if I were to fall pregnant, to start taking aspirin straight away (due to my previous miscarriage). And I believe some clinics prescribe as part of protocol.
My doctor has suggested a hysteroscopy abs genetic blood tests of both me and my husband (which is a chromosomal analysis).
I haven’t made a decision to move clinics yet, but I am keen to hear what other professionals would suggest. It may confuse me further but I’ll cross that bridge when and if I come to it!
Hi Yellowbellow1212, sorry to hear that your third transfer failed. I had IVF ICSI due to male factor infertility & had 2 failed transfers last year. My clinic blamed it on chromosomal abnormalities with the embryos as they weren't tested and wanted me to go ahead with a 3rd transfer. I refused and said I wanted to have more investigations first. I had my embryos tested (all normal), then reminded them I had an autoimmune thyroid issue for which they put me on a steroid to reduce inflammation called prednisolone. I then pushed for the ERA biopsy and as a precaution we added blood thinners (inhixia) to my protocol to rule out any blood clotting issues. My consultant didn't recommend the ERA because he said it only impacts 1 in 10 women but given the lack of success so far, I thought it was worth confirming that my window of implantation was correct. The ERA came back and showed that my uterus was pre-receptive!! So we adjusted the timing of my next transfer and it was a success and I am 6 weeks now. I hope you can get the answers you're looking for, all the best xx
