36 years - Low amh, 3 failed iui and 1 failed ivf

After ivf I had -Ve pregnancy test today and started my periods.

My story is really long but to give you an idea - I had my tests done before COVID thing started in December 2019 that's when they found that my amh is slightly on lower side i.e. 6.9 still they went ahead with treatments in October 2020 - 3 IUI and now 1 failed IVF.

I am 36 right now and I am sure my amh must have gone further down since December 2019.

As I was going through NHS funded treatment I felt like it was kind of a tick box exercise.

I worst feeling I had was in my ivf treatment when clinic transferred 3 cells embryo on 3rd day, after lots of reading I knew it ain't gonna implant.

Devastated and heartbroken is understatement and I just can't stop thinking about it that so much time has been wasted and I am running out of time.

Now that I have to go private, I wanna make sure that I know everything and choose the right clinic.

All your inputs are most welcome and would be grateful if you all can guide me through the right direction as I see no light at the end of the tunnel right now 😞😞

If you go for private funding, have a look at access fertility. It could save your money.

Private clinics normally have a 3 cycle finance option. My clinic you can choose that option but if you have a successful pregnancy on the first cycle there is no refund, but with a buba in your arms I'm sure you won't care. Medication is always paid per cycle.

Don't loose hope! I've got low AMH (2.1 when last checked a few years ago and I'm 33).

If the quality is good 3 day transfers do work, so don't rule them out for future cycles.

How many eggs and what have the fertilisation rates been like with your other cycles? With my low AMH IUI wasn't recommended so we went straight to IVF.

Wishing you so much luck and baby dust with your journey. X

Can I ask a question how many ivf cycles or transfer did you do until bfp! I’m in my 2ww! X

I was very very lucky. I got my BFP on my first IVF cycle (short protocol). I got 4 eggs on collection, had a 3 day transfer of my grade A and the rest were left to go to blastocyst and 2 survived and are in the freezer. My BFP is now my 5 week old son.

Ah man the 2ww is tough, but I have everything crossed for you for your bfp. When is your OTD?

I had a transfer 8/4 and am officially meant to test on 21st that’s a week away!

It’s inspiring to hear your story! Because I have a low amh and I had a grade 1 embryo which is good back in and one good embryo frozen at blastocyst stage! I am trying to not cave into the testing and clinic we’re super supportive xx

I really do have everything crossed for you. 1 in and 1 in the freezer is a good result! I see so many stories of people collecting 15+eggs and still ending up with 2 or 3 that are of a transferable grade.

I know the waiting is terrible and testing early is even worse. I got my hubby to hide the tests from me until it was time.

Keep yourself distracted and try ignore symptoms. All my symptoms were from the progesterone pessaries rather than the pregnancy. Hopefully you get some fantastic news next week. X

That’s wonderful to get succeeded in first round.

Were you following any diet, exercise, meds etc?

If you don’t mind me asking what’s the clinics name - PM me if you prefer that way

Also, is AMH mentioned is in ng or pmol?

Thanks x

Hiya! I am the same age and same boat low amh. I know how this feels. It’s good you got to embryo transfer stage because every step is a step closer to what you want. I would say get back onto another cycle, see if the clinic would do a 5 day transfer as that’s a better quality at this point! X

The best thing we did was skip nhs and go straight to private! I made sure to complainTo the nhs who said my only hope was donor eggs! Ufht! My current consultant was disgusted at that comment!

I used care fertility in notts. Highly recommend them! Every nurse I met and shared my anxiety with had been thru someSort of treatment! Really felt supported. And understood if that makes sense. Re my low amh. My dr wasn’t negative he was very clear re egg quality . I did do something a bit naughty and got myself some dhea as zita west’s book recommended it for low amh and older ladies. I believe this helped me otherwise lazy follicles and egg quality. I guess I won’t really know the extent of quality until I get a bfp and hopefully have a bundle of joy in my arms! Maybe you need to reset and recharge and get back onto the ivf journey and do something differently. For me I followed a vegetarian Mediterranean diet and ate a lot of eggs, yoghurts, grains and pulses. I still treated myself to some carbs like jacket potato once a week and cheese. No wine . Had one cup of tea a day in the morning and one green tea at night. 25mg of dhea daily , took proceive max sachets and ubequinol 300mg daily and vit d x good luck and here if u want to dM or message xxx
