I'm 41 (42 in July), TTC for 2 years, initial miscarriage two years ago, tried naturally for a year, and I've just gone through my third round of IVF (ICSI this last round) with my own eggs - 2 rounds failed to get to transfer and last round got to transfer but nothing to freeze, had a positive but got an early miscarriage in March π. Will be doing blood tests but docs suspect egg quality issues.
My husband and I have made the decision to move to egg donation which we'll look to start in the late summer.
I was interested in stories for anyone my age who's done ED - what was the process like for you, and how many cycles did it take for a successful result? π
How long did it take from start to finish in terms of syncing up with your donor?
Especially interested in anyone who's used a named donor so were a bit more aware of the process on the donor's side...
Thank you!! ππ

Hi, I used a donor. It took about 2 months to be matched with her, and it worked first time. Iβm currently 16 weeks pregnant. Iβm 42 years old and didnβt even try to use my own eggs as we wanted the highest chance of success in the fastest time π
Yes I used a UK clinic. Once we were matched I was put on long protocol, I took a bit longer to respond to the drugs so I was delayed a few weeks but I basically started the drugs at the start of November, down regulating, then just took hrt and cyclogest and had the transfer early January
Hi minnesota_girl, I am so sorry to hear about you struggle and hopefully soon you will be blessed with pregnancy. I am 49 and when I started the journey of ivf three years ago, I had failed IUI and failed egg collection with my own eggs. My consultant advised to think about donor egg as I was fixed on the idea of using own eggs. But after speaking with my OB-GYN of my chances, I opted to go with an anonymous egg donor route. The process was pretty much smooth and the clinic was able to find a donor within 3months, but the waiting time also depends upon the specific criteria you are looking for in the donor. But I understand you have a named donor, so this might defer from my experience. It took me a year until I was ready to start the process as I had pay all costs out of pocket and wanted to save some money beforehand. And then had to pre-plan every thing as I had some back and forth travelling to do for the treatment!! Once I contacted the clinic, received an appointment with the consultant as well as with the psychologist within 2-3 weeks and had nurse appointment within 1-2 weeks. They arranged my medication and sent them over within 2-4 days. I have been blessed and fortunate to be pregnant at first trial. I am now 21week pregnant. I hope this helps you on your journey!
