My egg retrieval was today. They retrieved 7 eggs, but because my partner couldnt produce a sample we had to freeze my eggs. I am taking paracetamol 4-5hourly but my pain is still there in abdomen, more increase in pain with sitting or lying and when i need to evacuated my bladder. Can anyone share if they have had these experiences before?

Hi there, well done on the egg collection. That sounds about right with the pain. Did they give you anything stronger than paracetamol? I was given Solpadol (I think it was on prescription). Definitely paracetamol would not have been strong enough for me on first day. It took 24 hours for the stronger pain to subside but will take a few more days to get back to normal. Keep an eye out for severe bloating/fever etc. and contact the clinic if you feel worse.
Your poor partner. That’s disappointing for both of you. My DH had an awful experience when we were at a clinic abroad (sample was too poor to be used) and he was devastated. I was too old to freeze the eggs so none of them were fertilised. Hopefully your partner can give another sample soon and they can fertilise the eggs. Rest up and just take it easy now. x
I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling rubbish and also that your partner struggled on the day. There's so much pressure to perform! I know it's not very helpful for you this time around but at my clinic they asked my husband if he wanted to provide a 'back-up' sample in advance of my egg collection, which was frozen. He did that at the start of treatment, a few weeks before egg collection. That helped, because he knew that there was already sperm available if anything went wrong on the day. Perhaps you could ask your clinic if you could do that next time. Hopefully you won't need a next time though! 🤞🏻
Hope you feel better soon. I mostly felt uncomfortable on the first day as the painkiller they had given me in the clinic did its job and was numbing the pain, then the second day I used lots of paracetemol. xx
