Code red - I’ve been taking the wrong dose!! 🥺😫

I could cry! I started stims last Friday. I went for a scan yesterday to see how the little follicles are doing. To my disappointment, there were only 3 on the right and 4 small ones on the left. I felt quite deflated. The nurse instructed me to up my dose of menopur.

Last night when I went to take it I thought, gosh 200mu is loads and then I realised I’d only been administering 75mu instead of 150mu 😫😫😫 What an absolute 🤬!!!

What do I do now?! I’m too embarrassed to tell the clinic. I’m hoping the extra dose will cancel out what I missed but I’m worried about what effect this will have the quality of the eggs. What a mess!!

I think you need to tell the clinic. Don’t be embarrassed, it’s an easy mistake to make at such a stressful time. Good luck x

Let the clinic know. This happens a lot and it happened to me. You’re under quite a lot of pressure during IVF whether you realise it or not. Also if it’s your first time, it’s a completely alien routine to you. So don’t feel embarrassed. Call them today to let them know as they may adjust your dose to a lower amount to reflect this. My sister helped me do my first injection and administered 400mu instead of the 150mu i was directed to take! I was absolutely freaking out and phoned the clinic immediately. It really wasn’t a big deal and i just carried on the following days with the correct dose. Remember the drugs are there to be manipulated according to your follicle growth, they can stim you and suppress ovulation for as long as they need to 10/14/20+ days as necessary until they think you have reached the max follicle count and size. Science is amazing.

Now you are taking a higher dose you will likely see a positive change on the next scan and so on, do not worry. I think its better to take a lower dose rather than a higher dose like i did (i ended up getting OHSS) a lower dose is kinder on the eggs and less likely to affect quality, in fact some women choose this option for mild/natural IVF specifically for this reason. I got a lot of eggs in the end but only 2 blasts because i was overstimulated.

Please dont let this stress you out it’s totally fixable. Good luck! Xxx
