Pessaries

Hi,

I have just started using Cyclogest pessaries rectally and was wondering if there was a length of time you were supposed to wait between using a having a bowel movement. I tried to ring my clinic but no answer. One pharmacy said they weren't sure and the other pharmacy I rang said as long as you can! Has anybody got any advice from anywhere? The leaflet with the meds doesn't say anything. I can't time it so I use straight after going as I have to take no more than 12 hours apart.

Hi I was on the same pessaries, I was taking 2 a day so I would take 1 when I woke in the morning and the other before bed, (although some days in the morning, it was obvious to me that I would need the loo and so I would wait until after that before using the pessary), the paperwork I had said you would need to keep in the pessary for at least an hour before going to the loo and if you did have to go within the hour then to take another pessary, it happened to me a couple of times, hope this helps x

That's great thank you! It's good to have a time in mind! My doctor said it was important not to go over the 12 hours so I can't really wait to go to the loo before inserting. Thank you so much for your help. Hope you are doing ok xx

Hi,

Im also currently using Cyclogest. I relieve myself before and then insert a pessary. It doesn't take long for the progesterone to be absorbed, 15 min max. So you should be good to go after 15 min or so.
