Pessaries

Hey everyone. Hope you're all well. I have my transfer for FET next Friday morning. The nurse advised me to use 3 pessaries a day starting with 1 from Sunday evening. My question is don't you need to be on progesterone for 5 days before transfer? I've been advised not to use any on Friday before transfer so that'll only be 4 full days? Or should I start them Sunday (today) morning? I mean can it do any harm starting them earlier?

I was on 2 pesseries morning 2 lunchtime and two dinner time 5 days before transfer and until 10th week of pregnancy and they are bit irritating to skin but yes I think re check with your fert nurses incase your prescription is different 😊

I am in Newzealand and govt funded treatment take over a year to wait and I turned 38 and my partner 47 so we decided to pay for it and do it quickly so we done it and produced 14 eggs, 8 fertilised and eventually had 5 blasts and and this one was first one transferred and 4 blasts saved in freezer ☺️, ivf is v scary and still I am scared and pray from God almighty to bless me healthy and happy baby and bless every woman who is trying Ameen

Hi Shia you taking 6 pissaries a day of how much potency 200mg or 400mg??

I think they were 200mg and with them there were blue small tablets too one each morning daytime and dinner time

I don’t have much information about the tablets now but if u need to know there name I can try to find as they might be somewhere around left over ones

Yes they were progynova as I am not good about names and further I stopped both pesseries and progynova almost 17 weeks ago and I am not taking anything now except elevit

If u don't mind can I ask that your progesterone was low that you was on such dose of pissaries... Because I asked from my nurse to increase my dose but she refused

I don’t know as that’s what clinic told me and I thought it was normal but now when I read here that people are taking 1x 3 times and mine look heaps , nurses never told me y I was having 6 pesseries a day and y 3 a day progynova as I been having all those medications blindly thinking they must be right as doctor plan every one’s medication and they know better

They never told me that I had low progesterone or anything but they told me how many have to take

Anyway that proved good for you👍👍I m taking progynova 4 a day. I m little concerned about pissaries I thought it should b three a day.. But clinic didn't allow me.. May Almighty God help me with this to get bfp amin... Thank you for sharing your experience.. Nice to talk you😘😘

Hey, my clinic used to advise 2 pessaries a day but now they've changed it to 3 a day. I'm on 400mg 3 a day so works out the same as Shia's. If u have enough, u could just take 3 a day yourself if you're thet concerned but InShaa Allah should be ok x

Maybe your progesterone levels are okay as otherwise they would recommend more and yes nice talking and hope for the best 😍😘😘

I was told to start taking my pessaries the evening after egg collection. I was on x2 a day.

I had a 3 day transfer so didn't have time to get 5 days worth in.

Still got a BFP.

But defo check with your nurse before starting them earlier than advised.

I'm on x 2 400mg of cyclogest and I didnt start mine until 4 days before transfer. I take mine at night before bed and first thing in the morning. I think ive been perscribed enough to take till im 10 weeks xx

I think the progesterone is timed to match when the corpus luteum would start releasing it naturally at ovulation. So it depends on the age of the embryo. If it's a d5 embryo then yes, you need 5 days of progesterone. If it's a d3 embryo, then the additional 2 days of progesterone will build while the embryo continues to divide inside you, reaching day 5. So think of your uterus as the petri dish in the lab for two days and the progesterone is still needed at exactly the same timing, all that's changed is where the embryo is growing.

But if you're concerned the clinic have timed it wrong, definitely ask the question.

Dosage - you are on a lot of pessaries but the progynova is low, so overall I think that dose sounds normal. I'm on 3 pessaries but 5 progynova, so we are similar overall, just made up of different proportions.
