Prolactin - how to naturally to reduce it

Hi All,

I had my bloods done recently via gp and my prolactin was 243 and testosterone 0.9 nmol/l.

Im guessing my prolactin is high for fertility and testosterone too low.

Does anyone know how to lower prolactin naturally.

Many thanks xx

Hello,

I have PCOS. Because of this sometimes my prolactin goes up. Or down by itself. I don't know how to lower it naturally, but before I used to have a medicine called parlodel.

Hi I’ve had really high prolactin over 1000 having the test mid day is the best time to get a true result. I had to take medication to get mine down my clinic like it under 200 x

Thank you. I had my blood test at 1030am. Is it known to rise during the day or reduce? Im wondering if prolactin is an issue as i have had 2 natural miscarriages and failed implantation from ivf.

Hi it reduces as the day goes on. I’ve just had my prolactin retested as I’m on 2 tablets a day for this & it was 250 my doctor confirmed this was completely normal. So I wouldn’t worry about your prolactin results 😊 x

Oh thats good news. Well done. This is a relief, one less thing to think about for me too (and not to mention googling the subject!). My estradial was on the low side 198 and FSH 6.7 so maybe ill see how i can bring my estrodial back up abit more. Im also thinking maybe cervical mucus.., endless drain on our brains lol

Has the clinic reviewed your womb lining or possibly taking progesterone? Xx

I had a miscarriage & they have given me progesterone to keep my level up incase it drops causing it to happen, Iacey Turner had the same situation. & they gave her the same. Might be worth mentioning... x

Thank you uts definitely worth checking out for sure. Did they give you the progesterone even before you got pregnant ie when you were still ttc? Ive had 2 miscarriages.

No it was after my miscarriage to keep my progesterone up from day 21 until day 28 to avoid it happening again x

Thats i actually a really good idea. Im in day 24 and noticed tiny spotting. I always get this in the luteal phase before my period starts. I wonder if its low progesterone that causes it. Anyway i made the assumption and as soon as i saw the spotting last night i had a raspeberry leaf tea and it went away. Im assuming the progesterone boost stopped the spotting.

I don’t think your prolactin seems high - my clinic like mine under 500 - I suffer with hyperprolactinemia so am constantly monitored and was on daily medication ( I’m now 7 and 5 weeks pregnant so can’t take it anymore ) I don’t think you need to worry xx

Hi just wondered at what point the clinic advise to stop taking the medication when pregnant? xx

MiniS5 profile image
MiniS5 in reply toGemz29

They said for me to stop taking it as soon as I found out I was pregnant but as this is an IVF baby I stopped taking the tablets the day before embryo transfer x

My clinic have advised to stop medication & said to monitor my prolactin in blood tests to keep an eye on it, then they called me back to advise don’t worry about it no blood tests are needed through out, feel abit worried stopping 2 tablets a day x

Is bemfola given to people with low amh? I havent used that one before. Used menopur, gonalf and meriofert.
