I am taking 25mcg Levothyroxine for fertility to bring my levels below 2. I had a recent blood test to say my levels were at 1.7 (from 3.08). I have been taking it for approximately 3 weeks. I have noticed over the last week I have been having heart arythmia and palpitations and been breathlessness for about 2 weeks. I am taking the lowest dose so can anyone suggest what I should do or if anyone has experienced this themselves pls? X

Heart arrhythmia, breathlessness and palpitations when taking levothyroxine for fertility. Is this normal?
Hi hun! I experienced the same but with a higher dose (100mcg) - now down to 59mcg and feeling fine. Are you having monthly blood test to check levels? You should...suggest you speak to your clinic or GP asap.. xx
Hey. Thank you for your reply. Yes I have had a blood test since taking them for 3 weeks and it came down to 1.7. Had another one today and have also mentioned to my GP and he has suggested I have an ECG. Seems strange to have these symptoms on such a low dose. Hope all ok with you xx
Oh good well done! You never know how the body reacts...I’m sure the ECG will be fine, do you know when you’re having it? I’m good thank you 😃Xx
Hi Tulips, I am on 50mcg and I also get arrhythmia and palpitations (mainly in the evening) but I've not connected it to Levothyroxine until I read your post.... Is that a known side affect. Maybe I should get it checked out! xx
Hi Millbanks. Yes mine happens in the evening too. It’s horrible and doesn’t help when you check your heart rate on your Apple Watch either 🤦🏼♀️ I have been having this for about a week to 10 days and yesterday I decided to check side effects of levothyroxine and these all came up. Yes maybe you need a lower dose so best for check with your GP or clinic. Do you also have shortness of breath? Xx
Hi. Thyroid function can result in all of these so if you are on thyroxine this is more than your body has been used to and can result in the same symptoms your body would have if you are hyperthyroid. They will need to observe your levels and adjust accordingly taking into consideration your symptoms.
Hey Tulips. On the thyroid group and online literature bloods need to be re tested 6 weeks after changing dose. I hope you are offered to re test soon to make sure you levels are not out of wack. X x x
Thank Mimisami. Really appreciate it. I recently had blood tests and should have the results on Wednesday. My GP Has told me to take 25mcg every second day for now. I just really hope these symptoms go away soon. Thank you again xx
