Has anyone used EMLA numbing cream (or an equivalent) to help with their injecting?
I went through most of my injections with just a pack of ice (which didn't help much!) but found EMLA cream helped a lot by the time I'd got to my Lubion progesterone injections in my last cycle (think I'd been injecting for around 35 days by that stage). I'm hoping to use it again for my intramuscular injections this time around. It simply numbs the injection site which helps a little.
I asked a nurse at my clinic a while back whether I could use a numbing cream and she said it was 'best not to' but couldn't give any reason for this. I'm of the opinion that, if it helps get the job done, I'm better off using it, but wanted to check whether anyone knew of some kind of health warning that I am oblivious to?!

Hi there! I used a numbing cream for my trigger IM injection because I have a huge fear of needles and it's the only way I could get through it. It worked beautifully, wasn't an issue with my clinic. Maybe you can ask her for clarification on why or ask someone else? Good luck!
I just used something called buzzy. Its designed for injections. It’s like a frozen pad you keep in the freezer. My injections stung a lot but when I used this I couldn’t feel a thing. I kept it on there for a minute or so until it’s completely numb. It really helped me. It also comes with a buzzing thing but I didn’t use that, just the frozen pad. Hope you find something that can help! Xx
I used EMLA for the last of my injections. I have a bad needle phobia and after a few days I was really struggling to overcome the fear of doing them. It really helped. My clinic didn't have an issue with it if it got the job done. I also used it for blood tests and cannula. Not sure it helped much with the cannula or if it was just because the anaesthetist failed 3 times to get it in. Definitely helps me with blood tests though. I had a successful FET and have been advised to keep using it for bloods during pregnancy as it helps me so much and is safe to use so can't see a reason why you shouldn't use it. Good luck with your cycle. X
