Hi ladies. Just looking for some advice. As a IVF mama, I have been on the fertility journey for nearly 7 years. I am finally over 12 weeks pregnant with twins. Last scan was at 10/11 weeks, and everything was fine. Due to early bleeding I had weekly scans after 6 weeks and this is the first time I’m having to wait for a month. My next official 12 week scan is with the NHS, by then I’ll be nearly 15 weeks. How do you ladies get through the big gaps in between scans? I am feeling so much anxiety about waiting for the next 2 weeks and worrying my body won’t continue to do what it needs too. And we’ll go to the next scan and the heartbeat will have stopped. Please HELP!!! X

I can absolutely relate! It is the toughest to wait for the next scan. I am also pregnant with ivf twins and started spotting, that turned to bleeding, from 4 weeks up until 13 weeks. I’m now 18weeks4days and the anxiety in between scans doesn’t get easier. I am praying more and watching sermons, that helps me to stay encouraged and strong. All the best mommy🌸
I just want to let you know you're not alone. After everything we go through to get pregnant, you think the positive test is the end result but then you just worry in between the next hurdles.
I am also pregnant with IVF twins (23 weeks) and I feel like I am just starting to believe it's actually happening. I also had a few private scans in between NHS scans to put my mind at ease.
I’m 30 weeks with twins...I had an extra private scan done at 16 weeks as couldn’t take the anxiety of waiting for the 20 week scan after the 12 week one. I’ve realised 4 weeks is my limit to go without checking on them! You’ll get 4 weekly scans aster 20 weeks anyway or more depending on the kind of twins you are having.I’m naughty and also have a home Doppler so check on things with that too but it’s easier when you start to feel them move x
Hi Justus1 - wanted to let you know that we do have a group for people who are pregnant after fertility issues which may be really useful. There is a Facebook group and members meet online via Zoom once a month. It's a really good place to talk to other people who are in a similar place - anxiety between scans is something we talked about in our most recent online meeting. Take care - you are not alone. facebook.com/groups/Fertili...
Hi I can completely relate to this. After trying for over 7 years I am 18 weeks pregnant but found the gaps between scans too hard. We have done a couple of private scans. There are clinics where you can book a scan for around £50-70. I checked with a midwife friend that this is safe to do. I found this very reassuring just to find out the baby is okay and at the right size.
Thank you ladies. I’m going to see if I can get to my next scan. But will keep in mind it’s completely normal to have private scans in between. Makes me feel I’m not going crazy, so thank you for coming back to me xx
You can buy a fetal Doppler and check the babies heartbeat
