I’m under a recurrent miscarriage specialist after three losses and a chemical pregnancy. He scanned me on Monday and said he noticed that there was some fluid in the womb. He said it could just be cervical mucus, or it could indicate something more serious like a polyp or scar tissue. I had two D&Cs last year and was left with a small amount of scar tissue that had to be surgically removed, and now I’m panicking it’s grown back. He said it wouldn’t cause a miscarriage but might stop an embryo implanting. Anyone else had fluid in the womb? Did it go on its own? Any positive stories would be appreciated.

My surrogate had fluid in her uterus during her first transfer, at the day 6 scan or something. But by the day 10 scan it was gone. Apparently it happens and can be nothing and is often gone by next scan, which it was. Have you had another scan?x
Hi Orla, thanks for your reply. That’s great to hear her fluid disappeared! No, I haven’t had another scan as we’re trying naturally rather than doing IVF. He did say that he would scan me next month though, and if the fluid was still there he would do a hysteroscopy 😬 x
I had fluid on mine following a D&C. I was given the option to wait a couple of periods to see if it went itself or have a hysteroscopy. I had a scan and they could see it had moved further down since having one period but was still there so I went for the hysteroscopy .
A few weeks later when I had the hysteroscopy the fluid had gone but they removed a polyp instead.
I think it probably will go on its own but depends how much patience you have! Xxx
I had fluid in my lining one round and in my womb another. The round when it was in my womb was the only time I actually had a BFP. Both times it went on its own.

That’s reassuring to know it can just go, thank you! Just reread his follow-up letter and the fluid is actually in the lining around the fundus. Did the fluid in your lining go quite quickly too? x
Yeah it did. It went over about a week to 10 days. I just elongated the prep bit of my cycle. I could see it between the layers in the scan and watched it reduce over a few scans.
My consultant said I couldn’t transfer until it was almost gone as otherwise it was like trying to transfer an embryo into a swimming pool....
If you ask me, I think I loaded my progynova too quickly (was put straight onto a really high dose).xx
my fresh and frozen has failed and get cancelled because often has fluids on womb. apparently fluid from hydrosalphinx of my tubes has leak( after having another laparoscopy). if i suggest try to find out first from where is the leaks like checks your tube condition first hun. because if it’s from tube like mine... it probably the cause all this time just like mine. so now my tube has clipped and waiting for doing another fet again.
I’ve just had my final scan ahead of what was meant to be my transfer day on Wednesday this week. Devastatingly my transfer has been cancelled as my lining hasn’t thickened and there’s fluid in my uterine cavity. I’m really worried about the fluid as I am post menopausal and been recommended to have another hysteroscopy. Just praying like all yours it disappears!
If it helps at all, mine not only disappeared but I got pregnant on that cycle. I was also told on my day 12 scan (I was doing a 'superovulation' plan, using letrozole) that my lining was thin. Sadly, I did end up miscarrying at seven weeks but I have a history of recurrent miscarriage and don't believe that my lining or fluid problems were to blame. It implanted nicely and had a heartbeat before it died. Have your clinic put you on progesterone suppositories? I was on Cyclogest and the nurses at my clinic said that this is all you need sometimes to boost the lining. It obviously worked for me. Good luck. x
