Anyone had to freeze all? Devastated as I was so looking forward to transfer 😭I had my final scan yesterday and there's 23 follicles in there , they will be taking them out tomorrow but are going to freeze all due to OHSS risks but cannot tell me when I can have a FET I feel there's always a hurdle 😭 this would have been my third go.

We went down donor route & all our 5 day blastocysts were frozen until I was ready for transfer. I’m sorry you are at risk of OHSS, hope you are ok. I know it’s disappointing but it’ll bide you time to get ready for transfer. I know it’s hard but think of it as a positive. At transfer time you won’t have any of the stresses & strains of egg collection, you’ll know exactly how many embryos & their quality. No waiting for calls from the lab for updates, no wondering how the embryos are developing etc. Nowadays frozen embryos transfer is as successful as fresh. If you want to read more, check this out;

The very best of luck with collection Xx

I took out 30 eggs and froze some eggs and fertilized the others. Gave me time to recuperate becUse I was in agony after. Fertilized quite a few did pgs testing and did a frozen transfer. Pregnant 34 weeks now. Personally for me was best option ever

Hi francezc sorry to hear you won't be able to have a fresh transfer. I was exactly the same but I found out on egg collection day. They collected 19 eggs and was told that would have to have freeze all as the risk of OHSS was too high. It was a bit of a shock. That was on the 14th September. I was also told wasnt sure when would be able to have the frozen transfer and thought not another delay but I have just heard from my clinic and can start on this cycle so booked in provisional date for transfer on 8th December.

In the end even though i was really disappointed at the time it was actually for the best as I was in a lot more pain after egg collection this time and then I ended up in hospital with another illness the day after I would have had a day 5 transfer so I was actually really lucky not to have had a fresh transfer. So am pleased that it gave my body time to be fully recovered.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your transfer and your egg collection goes well.

Hi sweets I had a freeze all January 2019, it was gutting at first but honestly with the discomfort I was in after collection I'm glad. Tyeres also evidence that FET are more successful. I'm currently sat here with my 12 day old from my second FET

Thank you, hopefully it will be your turn soon. That's frustrating I'm sure, maybe just try to think of it as a practice scratch? I didnt have the scratch done but I've heard its uncomfortable so I'd definitely be frustrated as well

Hi Francezc,

I had my egg collection last month and also had to freeze all due to risk of OHSS. 19 follicles over 12mm is the cut off and I had 20. I was gutted that I couldn't have a fresh transfer at the time but know it’s for the best. Plus frozen transfers have slightly higher success rates and was told they might all be done like that in the future. I had to wait for next period to start the FET process (about 6 weeks later) so hopefully you don’t have to wait too long (although I know it feels like ages!) Good luck at egg collection! xx

That's lovely to hear Hun is it NHS IVF your doing or private? Mines NHS funded at the moment so feel it may be a bit of a delay. Best if luck lovely xxx

Thanks, I’m with the NHS. I rang up on the 1st day of my period and was told they didn’t have space due to Covid, then I received a call a few days later with a date for a scan but they can’t guarantee it won’t be cancelled again. Fingers crossed I will be having my transfer the first week in Nov xx

I was the exact same... I had my retrieval in august 2019 and had to wait until October 2019 to have my FET. I now have a three month old baby girl from that transfer... as much as I was impatient at the time, i think now that it gave my body time to recover ...

I had my egg retrieval in January and they got 31 eggs, mine was a freeze all but I only found out the day of egg collection. I was disappointed at first but actually in the end I was relieved. I was sore after egg collection and my body just felt like it wasn’t ready. It is disappointing and makes the process so much longer but try and enjoy the break in between, get your body back to normal and then you’re ready for the next stage. Our next FET wasn’t until July but only due to Covid otherwise it would have been April time x

Wow that alot if follicles, thank you for the advice lovely. I had egg collection today and they only took 10 because the rest were small apparently so was a bit gutted . Just have to wait and see now xxx

Great advice from Jengi. I chose to freeze all mine on the day of transfer. The stress of everything and how much hormones are going on in my body at the time was too much to deal with. I was so bloated, had a UTI and suffering with so much stress, it was too much of a risk for me and so on the morning I asked to freeze them all. It was the best decision I made, I have my FET on Thursday and my stress levels are non, the embryos are ready and I only take tablets. I think stress plays a huge part in conception and an FET is so much less stressful x All the best on your journey lovely 😊 xx

Aw that's lovely to hear and I wish u all the best 😚 I had only 10 eggs retrieved today which I couldn't understand as there was 23 in there . I'm just praying for them to make it to blastocysts. Thank you Hun xx

I had 10 eggs too lovely, 2 made it to blastocyst and I’m popping them both in on Thursday,,,,,,23 follicles but 10 eggs is ok they’re only numbers as Quality over quantity and we only need one to make a miracle baby 👶🥰 All the best on your journey xx

I had a freeze all In August and still ended up seriously Ill in hospital for 10 days. It was hands down the worst experience of my life and although I was devastated like you when They told me it was a possibility I can hand on heart say I couldn’t have cared less about a transfer when I was in hospital as I felt so so poorly. I had 33 eggs collected so I don’t want to scare you as you will likely avoid what I went through Just by doing a freeze all but if not having an embryo transferred immediately saves you from even a fraction of what I went through, it is 100% worth the heartache you’re feeling right now. I know how awful you feel now so I’m not trying to belittle that but please trust me that it is so not worth the risk. Sending love and hugs xx

Aw bless you that sounds horrendous. They only collected 10 today which baffled me as there was 23 in there. Just praying for blastocysts now. Thank you for sharing your experience lovely xx

I had to freeze all due to 23 eggs being collected. 8 made it to blastocyst stage. At the time I was so gutted as as they told me I needed to wait for 2 natural bleeds (periods) before starting the FET process. However it was worth the wait for me as I’m now 39 weeks pregnant! So hang in there and Good luck!! xx

Congratulations lovely that's lush news , I'm feeling a bit sore today,, they only collected 10 which I didn't understand as there was 23 in there but just the way it goes i suppose. Thanks for sharing 😊 xx

It’s the quality not quantity anyway! I had more eggs there but some were either too small or empty follicles. Stay positive! I would definitely do FET again. I think it gives your body a chance to get back to ‘normal’ after all the drugs from a fresh cycle. Xx

I have preferred frozen transfer. Less impact on the body and you have time to recover from egg collection. And you feel mote mental and physically stronger before a frozen transfer, as less medication in such a short space of time x
