Our 1st cycle failed at the end of September and our clinic has said we can start this next cycle. I'm not sure if I should be waiting?

How long after a failed IVF cycle did you wait to start your next?
My doctor advised at least 2 natural cycles after a failed fresh IVF round - but I think this varies per doctors / clinics. Maybe it depends on the protocol used? To let your body reset properly.
Sorry to hear your cycle failed. I’ve been there, look after yourself
I was told 3 months between egg collections but it might depend between clinics, good luck with your next cycle x
Hi, I waited over a year between the first and second cycle which was way too long. When our first cycle failed the specialist said to us to try and not wait too long because otherwise it is easy for life to get in the way... and it did... and then Covid!!🤦♀️
So we did our 2nd cycle in July-August which failed and then following the specialists advise I had my period after the failed cycle (August) and started injecting again on my September cycle. It did all feel quite rushed to make the decision and get all the drugs in place - short protocol, Menopur and Fermydal - and I would say injecting again so soon after was slightly more painful (don’t really know why) but we got out BFP and now I’m 5 weeks pregnant! Ours was with frozen sperm as my husband was away. I think one of the other reasons we wanted to move so quickly is because of my age, I’m 37 but 38 in December so wanted to try and get another go in before I was 38. I would say that for me mentally it was slightly easier doing the two cycles so close. Easier because I was totally prepared for what was coming and all the waiting and process etc... you know exactly what you are doing because you’ve just done it!
But we all have different minds, bodies, protocols, drugs, doctors... so you have to go with what is right for you... just maybe don’t delay as time can run away very quickly... good luck!😊
I waited from first to second 3 months then round 2 to 3 waited 6 months I think the break did me good and totally relaxed got back fit and in a good head space
I’m now 7 weeks pregnant x
Good luck
I'm sorry to hear your cycle failed. Our first one did too. Only managed to harvest 2 eggs but it appeared to work, unfortunately I miscarried at 6 weeks.
Our clinic said to wait for 3 monthly cycles to pass but I don't feel that's long enough. We're NHS funded so this is our last attempt and I really don't want to rush it as I don't want the same outcome again.
If you're not ready I would wait a little longer. You know your body better than anyone, you'll know what's right for you. Good luck with everything 🧡 xx
I was told to wait for at least one natural cycle. I actually waited 3 because I wanted to have time to take DHEA, CoQ10 and to have acupuncture. The recommended time is three months. So, I guess how long to wait depends on what your situation is. If you need to improve your egg quality and have not taken any supplements before, better to wait a bit longer. Otherwise, I don't think you want to waste too much time.
Thank you all for your very useful advice!!
This will be a frozen cycle so no more injections. I think if I left it too long I would over think it all and I feel like I'm ready to go again. I have a few weeks till my period starts so can see how I feel. I think with Christmas looming there feels more pressure to get another one in as the new year feels like it's far away. xxx
Hello,
So sorry to hear this!
For my fresh cycle, I was recommended a two-month break (i.e., two menstrual cycles) before proceeding with the next cycle. I had to wait 8 weeks after my embryo transfer & negative pregnancy test. Taking a break in-between cycles helped me replenish my energy and be well prepared for what’s next.
For frozen cycles, however, some patients may be advised to go forward without needing to start new stimulation over again. In the case of IVF with Egg donation, a one-month break would suffice.
However, this is personal and may differ from case to case, so it’s best to consult with your fertility doctor.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
