I found meditation, positive affirmations and acupuncture really worked. I had 16 in June, then 10.5 in September and October was 8.... All down to de-stressing. Stress and sugar levels really impacts hormones. Hope all goes well x
Hello dear,
Have you checked your AMH? Have you also done an ultrasound scan? Usually an FSH level higher than 10 indicates low ovarian reserve, but for a more accurate picture, it’s important to look at FSH in connection with other reproductive hormones.
If your repeat testing results confirm elevated FSH, your doctor will ask for a treatment before pursuing IVF as high FSH levels may adversely affect your response to stimulation medications and consequently, lead to a cancelled cycle.
Every clinic has its own FSH cutoff value. If you are allowed to proceed with treatment using your own eggs, you may be recommended to optimize the quality of your eggs first. Some clinics may also advise embryo screening prior to the transfer. This additional step will ensure that your embryos are genetically/chromosomally normal.
When FSH production cannot be regulated (e.g. due to a genetic disorder), fertility doctors may recommend using donor eggs. IVF with egg donation is extremely effective treatment for patients with high FSH for two reasons: a) it completely bypasses the need to stimulate your ovaries, and b) it provides donor eggs of the highest quality. Regardless of the common belief that mothers do not have control over their baby’s genes when donor eggs are being used, new studies showed that some of the mother’s DNA is transferred to the baby during the gestational period.
So whatever your situation is, do not get discouraged as there may be options you are not aware of yet. Explore all options out there, get a second opinion and make an informed decision about your future family.
Good luck!
