I had 10 eggs fertilize which I was thrilled about. However got the call today that I now only have 4 day 3 embryos. Is this a low percentage? I'm terrified I will have nothing to transfer on Saturday. I was so hopeful to have extras to freeze for later as well. anyone want to give me some hope with their own stories? Is there usually a drop off in numbers from day 3 to day 5? Thank you so much!!
Please give me hope!: I had 10 eggs... - Fertility Network UK
Please give me hope!
My clinic doesn’t check at day 3 but from what I understand the average is 50% from day 3 to day 5 blast. So I’d imagine you have a good shot at 2! But all 4 could make it, or alternately zero, but that’s not very likely!
Thank you so much!!!! I’m keeping everything crossed
Ten is a great number to start with! Well done to you! Having 4 by day 3 is good news, don’t despair ! Fingers crossed for them all making it to day 5.
To put this into context for you, I’ve gone down the donor egg route. Our 23 year old healthy donor with no fertility issues produced 16 eggs and we ended up with six 5-day blastocysts. I was told to expect no more than a 1/3 of eggs to make it to 5 days. The technology is not perfect, but it’s important we have realistic expectations too.
Wishing you lots of luck! Xx
I do tend to take an overly optimistic view of everything but I think 4 is a good number.
My clinic does a lot of natural cycles so when I was concerned about only having 3 fertilise this time (second round), they said that anything more than one is a bonus in their eyes. Those 3 ended up being all good enough to use. From those 3, I had a fresh transfer (failed) , a frozen transfer (currently 5 weeks pregnant) and there is still one in the freezer.
For my first round, I only had one make it to day 5 and that one is now nearly 2 years old and taking a nap upstairs.
It's so hard not to worry but you can't change the outcome now. Focus on the postives - you've got 4 and that's more than you need. Will keep everything crossed for you xx
4 is amazing. I never had more than 1 in my best cycles. Good luck with the transfer!
Hi, I had 9 eggs from transfer and ended up with 3 5 day blastocysts so there is still a lot of hope. My last embryo got transferred Thursday and test on Saturday. Hope you get some good news x
Hi, I had 9 eggs fertilised and ended up with 4 embryos (one put back in) and 3 for the freezer. My clinic didn’t give me a day 3 update but stay positive. It only takes one and the fact you have 4 at the moment is a great number. Everything crossed for you that they make it until Saturday xxx
Hello, we had 11 eggs all fertilised, 7 on day 3 and on a day of transfer we were told we lost 6 but we have 1 ready for transfer...I was shocked but..
This little one embryo is now 8 months old baba currently attached to my boob😊
Never loose hope🖕🤞🤞
I know how it feels. You’ve a decent number. We thawed 15 eggs which were collected a few years ago. 13 thawed successfully and injected, 5 fertilised with 4 3 day blastocysts and 2 blastocysts made it to 5 days. We decided to do PGS on the two and only 1 is normal. I had the embryo transferred 10 days ago. The fact that 62% of my eggs didn’t fertilised meant that they probably weren’t good quality eggs.
All the best and I hope they all make it to day 5 and success with your first transfer.
I had 31 eggs collected, 26 were injected, 16 fertilised, 11 made it to blastocysts but only 2 were good enough to freeze. I was disappointed but then I thought about it and realised 2 is fine and actually all I need. It’s very stressful waiting for that call but you only need 1 good embryo x
Don’t worry.. you only need 1 or 2 to have kids❤️
Hi, I had 10 eggs, 7 fertilised, again they don’t check the eggs on day 3 at my clinic but only 2 survived to day 5 blastocysts,,,,,, I declined my ET and waited a month before starting an FET cycle very soon,,,,, it is a shock at first when your numbers are high and rapidly start declining but it’s true you only need 1 for success 🤞🏻 Sending huge positivity your way lovely 😊 You got this 💪🏻Xx
I know it seems very disappointing- been there done that. I had 30+ follicles, only 11 eggs extracted. By day 3 it was down to 7. Day 5 it was 5. My first FET resulted in nothing, second FET (single embryo transfer) split and gave me twins. Don't get too bogged down with numbers. It really does only take the right one to work out x
