Favourite Nurse Very Pointed About Not Giving Me Much Progesterone

I have been trying to get a prescription of additional progesterone since last Monday as I am running out (run out today). Our favourite nurse was only able to get the prescription over to the doctor for signing yesterday (did it last thing yesterday afternoon), so hopefully Stork call us today and organise a next day delivery for tomorrow (didn't need to be this last minute!).

Nurse was very pointed about saying they only really want to give us enough up until the scan in case the scan shows bad news. I know that, but it felt really unnecessary to say. Plus, now I have the stress of 'am I going to get my meds in time'? And I'm going to have to go through that again if the scan is good! Because my clinic can't get their act together. How can it take them a week to write and sign a piece of paper asking for more progesterone! God. Also, if this doesn't work out, we'll still need progesterone on the next round of IVF!

I am worried that they are just thinking that it will be a bad scan because it was a day 3 transfer (and I am already anxious about the pregnancy!). Feels like they've written me off already.

Oh lovely I’m so sorry you’re stressed out about this! Last thing you need!

There is absolutely no reason why you would get bad news at your scan so please try not to focus on that, doesn’t matter what day transfer it was, you are pregnant and the odds are in your favour for a good outcome ❤️

I find clinics generally don’t like to prescribe meds past the scan date, mine gave me a written prescription on the day of my scan so I could get the rest of my meds from anywhere and they gave me a weeks worth from their internal stock to tide me over. Could you clinic do the same? What progesterone are you on?xx

Thanks Kibo. I think I'm one of a few ladies on here who are anxious about their pregnancies (as it's such a tough road to get to this point), but it feels unfair to voice it here as I am obviously very grateful to even see the two lines of pregnancy. It's just at every turn, my clinic is being a nightmare, I think is also bothering me. I will ask for more crinone and cyclogest on the day of the scan, and then also ask for a prescription. I have also been given the advice to ask for a letter from the clinic to give to my GP saying what progesterones I'm on to get a prescription from my GP. xxx

Do they have spare at the clinic that you could replace when yours arrive? Hope you get sorted

Hopefully, but I need some sharpish is the problem for right now! And my first scan is not until next Wednesday. They just make everything a drama, when it doesn't need to be. I assume it's because they're still understaffed. Having their phones STILL off doesn't help either. Grrr x

Get on the phone to the pharmacy and rush them on! Hopefully you’ll get sorted soon 😘💐🙏🏻

Uuuuurghhhh Emmie, I really feel for you! Its not like you need a reminder that anything can happen at scan ffs! I get they only give you a certain amount but what a palaver to get a prescription. Hopefully you get your meds sorted. There is no reason for your scan to be bad news, I think the staff get a bit blasé about what they say to us, no excuse but very little of them will have any idea of what we go through to get that BFP and think that's it, job done. Little do they know the stress the comes with the next part! Hang on in there hun, its not easy, I know!xxx

Thanks Cinderella. Just anxious about the scan, and don't need added stress of worrying about meds and the clinic reminding me that the scan might not work out. Best wishes for your scan this week. Soon now. x

Have called Stork delivery twice - have got next day delivery. Yay. Bloody clinic. Going to get prescription well in advance/lie about how much I have next time so they can't work last minute like this. Kind of like telling people you know are going to be late to get ready 15 mins earlier. Thanks. x

Wow - so sorry she said that to you! Ridiculous they are stressing you out over something so simple as well. It's not like progesterone is a controlled drug 🤣 If I could I would have given you some of mine, I have a whole pharmacy full! Hope it gets delivered on time and you have no further stresses 🤞 No reason to think bad news!! 💗 xx

Thanks Chel. Yeah, I'm going to ask for more than I need next time. It's not exactly expensive either! Would prefer to have more of it on-hand than go through this again. I just don't know why, at every turn, they try and make things more difficult. x

Hope you get it sorted ASAP. How long do you think we should take progesterone for? My clinic said until 8 weeks, so that’s a week after my scan which is on Friday. Should I be taking it longer?

Thinking of you for your scan. It’s such an anxious wait isn’t it? I’m counting down the days and constantly symptom spotting and hoping all is ok. It’s the unknown that’s so scary. Sending positive vibes your way and hope you get your progesterone soon xx

My clinic always used to say 12 weeks. I think I've heard that the placenta takes over at 8-12 weeks, but I would prefer to be on the safe end of that! Plus, there's no harm in taking progesterone, so I would prefer to take it than not. Just have to convince my clinic of that. Some people trust in their clinics, so if you're one of those, please take the advice of your clinic, but I'm not one of them at the moment! Good luck for your scan on Friday. CanNOT wait for mine next week! Positive vibes for you too. xxx
