Donor details are not what I expected.

I'm throwing this one out in the hope of some advice. I am heading to Spain in a few weeks for donor egg treatment. The clinic sent me the donor details yesterday saying they found a good match using phenomatch software and this should be the closest match to me. Myself and my husband are dark hair with blue and brown eyes and the donor has blonde hair and green eyes! I declined this donor and don't understand why they would even match this donor to me after weeks and months of discussions and form filling. I've started medication but I'm confused and wondering if I should back away from this clinic. I've not paid the deposit yet thankfully. The clinic is in Alicante. Just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience. Thank you X

This seems very strange to me. I think you need to challenge them on this. You’d imagine dark hair and brown eyes would be relatively easy to find in Spain. Sounds to me they have made an error. Very surprised they have you started on treatment before donor has gone through the various screenings. We froze all blastocysts that resulted from my husbands sperm and donors eggs. And did transfer later. Are you going with a fresh transfer?

Thanks, glad someone else agrees it's strange. My husband is not the best to talk to in this area either so I needed someone else to say it's odd.

Apparently they have lots of donors on the pill ready to go. I think I will call them today and say my piece now! X

My clinic in Greece are quite particular to match you with the features from both parents but obviously more towards the mother....as in height, weight, body type, hair colour, eye colour etc. I would have thought they should do the same in spain especially if you have specifically asked for these details to be matched and tell this that this is important to you. I think you are right to decline if it doesnt feel right, it's a huge decision using donor eggs.xxx
