Conceiving second baby, ivf and low amh

Hi there, I just thought I would reach out and see if anyone else is in the same position as me. I found out I had low amh (5.4) in July 2018 after 12 months of trying to conceive our first child. We had private ivf treatment and were very lucky to conceive first time in October 2018 and we now have a healthy 15 month old boy. I’m nearly 33 and very conscious that time may not be on our side if we want to have another child. I definitely feel a difference in my hormones and cycle since having my son and I’m starting to worry about it.

Has anyone conceived naturally after having a first child with ivf and a low amh? Or how long did you wait before having further treatment for a second baby? We would like to give ourselves a chance to conceive naturally before considering a frozen embryo transfer but I think our chances of conceiving naturally are quite low. I’m not sure how long to wait because I’m already feeling that vicious cycle of hope and disappointment each month when my period arrives! I don’t think I can cope with that for too long.

It would be lovely to hear your thoughts. Thanks x

Hello, I’m sorry to hear about your struggles. It’s hard to know what lies ahead. We have our first child through IVF. Successful at first transfer (on second cycle though - first cycle nothing to transfer) and were lucky enough to have another 7 blastocysts to freeze. We were recommended to at least wait until LO was a year due to the caesarean I had. We started trying with FETs at 13 months and now she’s 28. Still no luck, now PUPO on fifth transfer. I thought we’d fall pregnant quickly again, at least within first three transfers as the blastocysts are from three years ago and high quality. But no such luck... start trying when you think you can cope with a second child, but don’t wait until the ‘perfect time’ as it might well take two years and then you have a bigger age gap. Hope this helps a little. Good luck on your journey!
