Flying and Covid fears

After spending the last 4/5 months being pretty darn careful in relation to not going out/cleaning down our food deliveries/not having anyone round etc due to Covid fears I feel pretty sure that my partner will not want to travel to Cpyrus for a tandem cycle, particularly as it carries a 7 day quarantine restriction upon arrival. Has anyone else faced issue s like this? either themselves being unsure or their partner? did you find flying stressful?

From what I have been reading on the news is the quarantine time has gone up to 14 days and some places ain't letting you fly out.... so I would double check...

As long as your careful like you have been then I think you should be ok... stay safe x

Yeah, I'm nervous about the rules being changed willy-nilly as the UK government seems to be , not sure there's much I can do abut that except worry about it!!

I’m out in Spain. I echo Cinderella, the airport and flights were pretty empty (although there is still the odd idiot at security that wants to invade your personal space and push in next to you -not in an actual spot but the side of your spot, in the repacking areas rather than pull up at an empty table....that was a little stressful for about 15 seconds).

They are loading planes back to front so you’re not walking down the isles past loads of people sitting.

I took an N95 mask to wear on the plane as I was a bit scared about air filtering on the plane, but it was probably unnecessary.

The only bit that was actually stressful was queueing to get hire car at the airport and then finding the thing in the stupid car park with crazy numbering (but that’s Spain, it was a stressful even before COVID).xx

Thanks for your advice, that was helpful :-) As if doing the whole IVF wasn't stressful enough - let's have a pandemic too!!! The clinic said they can arrange a cab for pick up from the airport which is helpful. I was thinking of wearing a mask and a visor.....and possibly not breathe for the duration of the flight?!!! :-)

Yeah the breathing on the plane was the bit I was worried about too. It was fine though.

Have a look at the latest research on visor use before you decide. There have been a couple of interesting articles lately that suggest visors can increase your chances of catching COVID. I opted not to use one coz of that.

On the plus side, the pandemic has let me keep this trip more secret. Hardly anyone knows I’ve left the country. I’m keeping up with friends and family virtually anyway so it doesn’t seem odd.

Try not to let it worry you too much (easier said than done). Good luck!xx

Hi SharlyWarly. All you can do is to take all the advice of your travel /booking agent and government. Obviously, I wish you well if you do decide to go abroad, but remember many have to self isolate for 14 days when they come back. Good luck! Diane

Thanks Diane :-) It's a risk if the government change the rules half way through our stay - we have the added issue that as we are lucky enough to have had a previous IVF success we would now need to take our daughter with us as none of my family would entertain looking after her here in the UK.

Hi SharlyWarly. So sorry that your family can't help you out, but I do wish you well with it all. Diane

Hi, we flew to Greece on 19th July, it was fine. However, it did cause added worry as I was concerned they might cancel the flight. Thankfully everything went to plan and we arrived on time. We got ourselves tested via NHS before I started medication. We were selected for testing on arrival in Greece. My clinic also tested me before transfer. They are well set up in the airports & on the planes, no risks taken. Our return flight was delayed by nearby 5 hours but the airport was fairly quiet and thankfully we had some movies downloaded on our laptop so that passed the time! Best of luck Xx
