Hi I was on short protocol last year when I started IVF, where they collected 5 eggs and 2 fertilised. For my second cycle, Dr switched me to long protocol and up the dose slightly and they collected 8 eggs of which 6 fertilised and 4 made it to blast. 1 was FET which has resulted in positive pregnancy. I asked the Dr why he started me on short, and he said it was because he didn't know how I would respond to the drugs. Good luck!! Wishing you all the best in your journey x x

thanks hun, were you also on the fyremadel injections too on day 6. This whole treatment is soo stressful, you dont know how your body will react to the treatment and what the end result will be.

I was on menopur injections. To be honest I didn't notice any changes or feel anything throughout taking medication. I was really scares of injection, in fact it took me 20 mins if crying to allow my husband to inject me but after that it was pretty routine. I say that but I was still scared. Would do it again and have done it again to achieve our dreams x

Hi, its varied on each round. some rounds I have done 9 days others I have done 14! there doesn't seem to be a 'normal' but I know 9 days is super quick x

Hi Naz, I’ve just been on the short protocol. I had egg collection today! It wasn’t bad and it went so fast. I was on 150iu menopur and Fyremadel.

If you need anything don’t hesitate to ask xx

Hey hun, my first cycle was long protocol and I had hyperstimulation syndrome, I did have eggs and went on to have transfer but it wasn’t successful and I felt so ill after having HSS. Second cycle was short protocol, felt so much better, no HSS and got my first BFP. Good luck to you hun - they must have their reasons for starting you this way - but maybe ask them just so you feel fully informed? Xx

Hi Naz17. My first cycle was short protocol too. And having now had a long cycle too we have found that the sort protocol worked better for me in terms of it got more eggs and of better quality. Don't worry that you are on the short protocol first time, they have to work out what works best for you and have to start somewhere. Wishing you all the best in your cycle.

I had the long protocol three times, all with BFN. This year Feb I had short protocol with few different drugs Meriofert, Cetrotide, Ovitrelle, and Cyclogest and got my first BFP after 11 years of marriage :) Good luck xx

Just out of interest, what counts as the short protocol? I was on 10 days of menopur and gonal f and started fyremadel on day 6

in reply toPinkfluff67

Short protocol is when you go straight into stims (menopur in your case) long protocol is where you down regulate with something like buserelin before you then stim xx

I dnt knw i fink it depends on people own body how they react to the injections, Yh I am on 150ui injections for menopur and on day 6 which is tmz for my fyremadel injection to start got my scan on friday booked.
