So we went for our viability scan yesterday and we saw the most amazing TWO heartbeats!! We cannot believe it. I was so nervous and was prepared for the worst. I still can’t quite believe it!
I’ve been pregnant a few times but have never seen a heartbeat so this is such amazing news for us. However, I am aware it’s very very early days so I’m just cautiously excited at this stage. We have another scan booked for 8 weeks so keeping everything crossed until then ❤️
I have a question for you lovely ladies re progesterone. I’m currently taking Lubion injections daily but given previous miscarriages I’m worried about my levels. My doctor says the injections should be enough and I don’t need to get these checked. What do you think? Should I stop worrying and trust in the professionals or should I push this? Any advice on progesterone would be very much appreciated.

And if it’s worrying you, i would just insist on a progesterone test - or order one yourself from medichecks? Just explain to your doc that you would just like to put your mind at rest so that you can enjoy your good news xx
Brilliant news, I'm so pleased for you!!🙌🏻🤗💗 If it was me I would insist on my levels being checked even if you have to pay for them however I've had past trouble including a spontaneous miscarriage. Just explain that you just want to put your mind at rest, one less thing to worry about!! Congratulations.xx
My Dr had me on 1000 mg utrogestan after transfer, which seems higher than most are prescribed, and when had levels tested 1 week in, were still quite low so ended up on 1600 mg - 8 pessaries a day!! It was the first transfer and I didn't have a clue about anything so glad my Dr was so on the ball. I'd push for a check, even if only for your peace of mind. Good luck and here's hoping for a happy healthy pregnancy for you three xxx
Thank you ❤️ and thanks for sharing your story. I think I will push for it to be checked. I had a GP appointment today and asked if they would check it but they said they’d need the clinic to advise what day and what time of day to check. I’m not quite sure why!
Wow congratulations what wonderful news! Hearing those heartbeats (x 2 ❤️❤️) must have been amazing! I think like others have said you should push for your progesterone to be tested and just pay to have it done if not. I don’t get why they don’t do this more routinely with those who have had previous losses. My past clinics have always been really dismissive about progesterone, which is annoying when you see the women on here it seems to have been a crucial factor for. Go for it, so then you can have peace of mind. Wishing you the best for the rest of your pregnancy xxx
Aww lovely! Thank you, I’m doing okay! Iv ended up with light spotting/bleeding but was at the epu last nite and got scanned from what they can see from being so early everything is fine so fingers crossed! X
Aw I know what a relief! I was crying before they scanned me as I thought it was all over and didn’t want to face the confirmation of it!! Oh honestly it’s such a worry!!! Thank you! X
Get your appointment booked in with the midwife as she will want to review your vitamins/folic acid intake. You can get the number from your doctors. I’m on 5mg folic acid throughout the pregnancy so for now, take as much as you can until your appointment (I took folate in the early weeks). I was on progesterone until 12 weeks, some clinics stop at 7/8 weeks. Feel free to message me anytime x
Thanks so much. I’m also on 5mg folic acid now but my prescription was only up to 12 weeks. I’ll query that and ask about increasing this for the rest of the pregnancy. Thanks for the heads up 👍
Were you ok after coming off the progesterone? I’m really worried about that.
I’m also on a daily Fragmin injection and worried about stopping that too!
When are you due if you don’t mind me asking? Have you had any more scans? Do they keep more of an eye on you given it’s twins?
I was fine coming off it but I haven’t had any bleeding at all. Our twins are separate sacs and placentas so we have extra scans from 20 weeks (every 4 weeks) to check on growth. Strangely though they don’t want to see you between 12-20 weeks so I booked in with the midwife and had a private scan at 16 weeks. With a singleton you see the midwife at 16 weeks!
Our clinic didn’t test routinely so I didn’t have anything but pessaries. I think if you have concerns it would put your mind at rest to have them checked and that would be worth the cost x
Ahh this is amazing news, so happy for you! Congratulations on having two little fighters in there 💗💗🎉🎉
My clinic stopped my Lubion at 8 weeks without testing my levels (despite my protests!) and told me to stop pessaries then too, but I had some spare so am weaning off these gradually until 10 weeks. Personally I would feel much happier just having the levels checked- after all, what’s one more blood test after all the tests, procedures and expense we’ve already been through?! So I’d push for it if you can.
Good luck and hope it’s good news at 8 weeks. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🤞 xx
Thank you ❤️ I’m going to continue Lubion to hopefully 12 weeks but, like you, I’ll be a bit apprehensive coming off it! How far on are you just now?xx
I’m 9 weeks now. Stopped Lubion a week ago and reduced from 3 pessaries per day to 2 a couple of days ago.. so far so good, no bleeding as yet and they warned me I might as think I have a small subchorionic haematoma. Anxious times!! It seems there’s quite a bit of variation between what different clinics recommend, which doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence at times does it?! I’m seeing my lovely GP Nurse on Mon for regular Thyroid monitoring bloods, so going to ask if she’ll also do Progesterone.
I’ve read somewhere that the pregnancy takes over Progesterone production before 12 weeks, so that would be ideal if you can continue until then. My clinic insists that this happens as soon as you’re pregnant, which is why they say to stop supplementing after the viability scan. Are you doing pessaries as well as the Lubion injections? Apparently some women absorb one better than the other for no known reason 🤷🏻♀️ If you can’t get your clinic/ GP to test your levels then I’ve seen that some places which do ultrasound monitoring for fertility/ pregnancy also offer blood tests for that sort of thing and as mentioned above Medichecks probably do it xx
Congrats on your 9 weeks. Each week must feel such a milestone ❤️
I’m just on injections. They said to stop pessaries on OTD.
Hopefully my body is producing progesterone, I’m just terrified after previous miscarriages. Also after reading Lacy Turner from eastenders story. If it’s not producing enough then hopefully the Lubion is topping it up enough.
I had a look at medicheck but think the test they have is more to tell if you’ve ovulated. Not sure?!
I’ll hopefully get my midwife booking in appointment soon so maybe I can ask her to check progesterone.
Ive been told to increase my thyroxine from 50mcg to 75mcg. Not sure if that’s because it’s twins.
Thanks so much for all your advice. Really does help xx
Thank you 💖 I’m trying my hardest to stay positive. Pretty much just living one week at a time at the moment! We’ve booked a private scan for next week, as I really feel I need that reassurance. I’ve only just got my booking appt through for when I’m over 11 weeks and they’ve got the address wrong (used our old one) so I’m going to have to change it and looks like my NHS scan could be quite late 🤦♀️😱
Completely understand your fears. Not sure about the medichecks thing, but maybe you could email them to ask? Think as long as they can test your levels then you would just need to know the normal values for your stage of pregnancy. The private company doing our scan (google “this is my”) have quite a few places around England and I can see they offer progesterone testing.
My thyroxine dose has increased too as apparently demand on the thyroid increases 20-30% during pregnancy, especially in the first 20 weeks. My tsh was right at the upper limit when pregnancy was confirmed, so I’m keen to see that it’s come down.
Really hope your 8 weeks scan goes well. I’ll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers and toes crossed! 🤞🤞xx
Omg this is amazing news. Congratulations. Praying they rest of your pregnancy progresses perfectly. I would suggest you do whatever puts your mind at rest. X
