Frozen eggs

Hi everyone. This is my first cycle of ivf. We got to the egg collection stage last Friday and they collected 8 eggs from me. Unfortunately my husband had a very bad day, got overwhelmed with it all and couldn’t provide a sample. Hence we have spent a very very sad and anxious weekend together. We have now booked a frozen sperm donation for next week and I’ve had my medications stopped. I don’t know when we will be able to do the embryo transfer (once my husband has provided a sample) and that is causing me anxiety and also the fact that this is just another intervention that will lower our chances even more. Anyone able to give any advice ? I’m guessing the embryo transfer can only happen once I’ve had a period and ovulation next cycle ?

Poor guy and poor you! Not a scenario you considered I imagine. I do think we underestimate the pressure they’re under - different types of pressure to us.

I used my frozen eggs last December. Once they decide you’re ready they will do the thawing and fertilising then your day 1-5 of embryo development will pick up as usual. Hope you don’t need to wait long! X

So true! We def underestimate the mans part to play and this bump in the road was completely unexpected and I think that’s why it’s thrown me so hard. Thank you for replying and I hope your journey is going well x

Hi so sorry to hear you’ve had this bump in the road 😢 yes you will likely need to wait a cycle but perhaps they could do a natural frozen transfer which would be pretty quick and only a few weeks after your periods hopefully. One thing I would say is I know it’s not ideal but frozen transfers can have great success and I’ve read a few studies lately that show sometimes it. CAn be even more successful than fresh. Thinking of you and hopefully your journey gets smoother now xx

Really sorry dear, I can not imagine how I would react if I were in your shoes. Although everything in life happens for a reason so please do not make yourself more upset... Medicated frozen cycles are very similar to the fresh ones so I hope they offer you a natural one. I do hope you get to the transfer day soon. Look after yourself xx
