So we have crossed the first hurdle, just spoke to our lovely embryologist. She said both have fertilised and also reassured me that the egg quality as well as sperm quality is excellent. Obviously no guarantees but we are thinking positive and hoping we have a viable embryo for transfer and well both would be a dream come true. ππ». She has kindly offered to call me tomorrow afternoon with a progress report.
We are booked for transfer Sat morning π€πΌ
Of course we are already discussing what to do if we have 2 beauties, in the past we have only ever got a BFP from a double transfer. One of those is my 4 year old miracle son and the other was sadly a miscarriage.
Last cycle was double fresh transfer, exactly a year ago was on my 2ww and for first time from a double fresh transfer we got a BFN π
I have in the past also had 2 Single frozen transfers and they were both BFNβs !
Looking for any advice regarding what is best at age 44 - doing a single or a double transfer ?

I have no advice regarding single/double, just wanted to say congrats πππ»,hoping this week continues to go well for you xxππ€π»ππ»
Great news!! Wishing you all the best Hope76. I personally would out both back (Im 42, almost 43) however it does pose the risk of twins of course. Also if one isnt good enough to freeze I would rather put it back than put one back and lose the other. Best of luck for transfer, hope all goes smoothly.xx
Well I just think go for it then! I know of a few ladies having twins but they were DE or younger ladies.....however I also know of lots of ladies having 2 back and only one takes. Thank you, Ive just started on meds for FET.....just need covid to keep steady now.xx
Yep I really think itβs wise at our age to do a double.
I will hope and pray covid doesnβt interfere with your plans.
Where I live (Aberdeen) has gone back into lockdown due to an outbreak π· Itβs down to a huge spread around pubs just awful and makes me thankful am almost at transfer stage x
Ahhh you are in Aberdeen! Yes, heard that on the news....Im a fellow Scot down in Fife! Thanks, really appreciate the support....Im kind of fed up with this IVF malarkey but need to push on until all our embryos are used!xx
My first thoughts were will my transfer go ahead π. Of course wonβt affect it thank goodness. Be strange going in myself but the staff are practically family now π
Iβve only ever had a BFP from double transfers too - although last years transfer ended in a ruptured ectopic. But Iβm now 11 weeks with twins
Obviously the chance of multiples is a risk/blessing π€£ - can you financially afford twins that was our biggest decision? Also we didnβt want to βleaveβ any embryos behind after everything we had gone through to get them. Also there are the health risks - Iβm 37 but my embryos were from age 36 - obviously risk of genetic issues is higher at 44 - would you be prepared to terminate one of an issue was found etc? Lots to think about and only a couple of a days to decide π€£ x
Twins is fantastic, I bet you are just over the moon, so happy for you after reading your profile you didnβt have an easy road but all worth it now π
Chances of twins I believe at my age much slimmer and feel I am prepared to take the risk to get that one live birth I long and long for .
Had one miracle aged 39 just need one more ππ»
That's wonderful!
My consultant has recommended double transfers for women over 40's who have had failed ivf cycle previously to increase chances of getting pregnant.
Yep as you know itβs the waiting game now itβs bloody awful but it will pass.
I hope your wait until your 7 week scan is not too long. Absolutely chuffed to bits for you π
Whoop! Fantastic news so far!!! Roll on Saturday
I have always done multiple transfers (I am 43 started IVF at 41), I have done a couple of double transfers and a couple of triple transfers.. my fated BFP was from a triple one and was a single embryo BFP. I would suggest a double. Does your clinic only do 5 day transfers? Mine have whacked mine back in as early as day 2 if I've only had a couple xx
Yay!! Im so glad both have fertilised, amazing!! Keep that positive thinking going. π€π
I also had good news, all 4 of mine have fertilised and transfer booked for next Monday. My clinic dont give any updates so no news is good news for us until Monday πx
great news on the progress of your embryos. I would personally opt for two on saturday. I just had my 8th transfer on Tuesday and had 2 put back and have had two for the last few attempts. It's always a risk if you put one that the second one may not thaw properly so I would go for both now and fingers crossed one or both will stick. Do what you are happier with. I wish you all the best for saturday xx
Hi Georgie thanks so much, in my gut I know itβs the right decision to do double. Just scares me my last double failed. However every cycle is very different as we know π
Oh my goodness 8th transfer, Mind you am not far behind you π
Wishing you a very successful 2ww and π€πΌ for you π xxx
Just dm'd you with info you hopefully don't need after this brilliant news! I hadn't seen your update before I sent it. Congratulations and best of luck for Saturday! X
Hi Hope76, wonderful theyβre both on their wayβ¨
Iβve had a double transfer at age 40. Just waiting to find out how they got on... Back in December at age 39 our embryos werenβt good enough to freeze so we definitely had to take both. BFN unfortunately.
So pleased youβre getting an update tomorrow. Hope they call you early x π
Thanks so much for your kind words. Just noticed you really donβt have long to wait until your OTD. Hoping for good news for us both tomorrow π€πΌππ»π
Well, another step closer! Hope youβve got tailwind and this is going to be it! Good luck making your mind up. If you think youβd be happy and can juggle three kids, maybe risk it? Here they wonβt let me do a double - I asked for it when attempting for our first child. So that took the choice away.
Iβd follow clinicβs advice and if they leave it up to you, or advise two, then for me it would be a case of βwould we copeβ with three kids? Good luck and let us know what you decide!
