Hi ladies. I'm meant to be starting IVF on antagonist protocol this month, I just went in for my baseline scan today, on day 2 of my cycle, and the nurse pointed out what she thinks is a cyst on my ovary. She did a blood test and my oestrogen levels came back high and she's said we have to postpone the IVF until my next cycle.
Just wondering if anyone has ever had this before? I'm really confused I dint really understand what a cyst is and why my oestrogen levels are high.

Hi, I’ve had this problem too. The cyst is a little like a follicle on your ovary only quite often it’s filled with oestrogen instead of an egg. The cyst leaks oestrogen into your blood stream so the levels in your blood will be high. The clinic need to be able to control your oestrogen levels and it’s not possible when there is oestrogen producing cysts. They usually resolve themselves (mine did) but in some cases, if they’re taking too long the clinic may discuss with you the option of draining them.
Try not to worry. It’s very common and sadly just one of the IVF hurdles.xx
No worries. I forgot to say, the cysts can also delay your period starting so don’t panic if its late. Your period will only start when your oestrogen levels get low (the cyst resolved itself). Keep talking with your clinic. They may give you something to try and bring on your period if it’s taking too long.xx
