RH NEGATIVE BLOOD WOMEN

Hi all. Please I want to know if there is anyone here who has an rh negative blood and had an abortion or miscarriage but did not have the rhogam shot and went ahead and become pregnant and your blood is not rhesus sensitized.

When do you visit the clinic to be checked if you have the anti D antibodies?

Had been pregnant before buy did not take the rhogam shot as I wasnt aware at the time that women with negative rhesus blood need to take the shot after miscarriage or abortion and I did not take st the time. Now I'm pregnant and just remembered it, im scare. Please share your thoughts lovelies. Thanks xx

Do you know what your husband's blood type is? I don't actually know my blood type, and when I had a miscarriage no-one at the hospital asked, they weren't the slightest bit interested. My husband does have a blood donor card though and he's rhesus negative, so I relaxed because in that case whether I'm positive or negative it can't cause problems. It is weird though how the NHS really don't seem to care about this when you have a miscarriage xx

Hi lovely, thanks for your reply. My husband is rhesus positive and I am negative. So I need the shot when I had a D and C earlier but I dint. Though it was under 5 weeks. I strongly pray my blood isnt already sensitized as I wasnt aware of it. Its good you also ask the hospital because if the baby picked the negative rhesus you have to be sure it won't affect your next pregnancy. Though babies often go with the positive rhesus factor. God help us. I will go for test and when I do I will update

Hi Daughterofaking. Hopfully you will be OK as you still need more injections usually after 28 & 34/40wks of pregnancy, prevents any problems and also protects in case of another little bleed. You will have one after baby is born too, to prevent you affecting any further pregnancies. They do not harm baby. Hope all goes well. Diane

Thanks for your encouraging reply DianeArnold. Why I'm worried is that I dint have it the first time and pray that my body isnt already rhesus sensitized to affect this present pregnancy as I read its ok for the first one but will affect the second if rhogam wasnt given in the first pregnancy after termination.

Hope all goes well for me and when tested I won't be sensitized. xx

Hi. I seen this happen before and all went well. One baby I know of had to have iron therapy for 2 months, but was fine after that. Thinking of you. Diane

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy. I am also negative. I had a shot after my first son was born (positive) then I went on to have a chemical pregnancy. Because it was such an early loss (5 weeks) I don’t know if it actually counts as the baby would have been so small. I certainly wasn’t offered a shot afterwards and to be honest I’m not even sure it got properly recorded on my records. Anyway, I did successfully get pregnant again and had no issues with that pregnancy at all so not having the shot didn’t do me any damage.

Thanks Lynnr54 for your reassuring reply. Thank God everything went well after the early lost, sorry about that. With all these reply I am calmer now that everything will be alright with me and this pregnancy. Looking forward to get a clean result when I do my test. Thanks again and congratulations. xx

Congratulations such great news :)

I have negative blood and my hubby is positive (we are both blood donors and that seems to be the only way you actually find out your blood type!) I had a natural miscarriage in March at 6 weeks. Because I was very aware of the potential issues with blood types I asked the early care baby unit, and even consulted a private doctor about if I needed an Anti D injection. But they said it wasn't needed as it was so early into pregnancy. As you've got negative blood they will check everything out later into the pregnancy and will give you the injection if needed. But definitely mention it to your midwife on your next appointment.

Alright. Thanks so much. L bled yesterday and I went to my Gp and I was told I don't need it as its too early. But any miscarriage up to 12 weeks the rogham injection must be given. xx
