I didn't have donor eggs but I do know some clinics that offer ivf also offer patients that go through it using their own eggs the opportunity to egg share with a reduced cost to their treatment overall. It might be worth looking into this. Some of the nhs ones offer this, I know the one in Birmingham did.
You would have to look for prices of IVF with egg donation. We went abroad as its a bit cheaper to do this and there isnt a waiting list like in the UK. You may find that a lot of clinics dont have prices on their website but they are usually pretty good if you contact them, they will usually send you a price list. Good luck.xx
Hi, feel free to private message me. We went with donor eggs abroad. If websites don’t have donor prices, you can contact them directly. I have kept a record of all our costs which I’m happy to share with you if that would be helpful. We got 6 embryos, 1 has been transferred. Up to that transfer it cost £10,000 including initial appointment, bloods, scans, donor costs, medication, transfer. This doesn’t include any travel costs. In hindsight, I wish we stayed in the UK. Some clinics do good packages which include 2 transfers with 50% money back if not successful.
Hi. I was going to go abroad but COVID changed all of that and I ended up going with a UK clinic for DE treatment. Im actually glad it worked out that way now because I think having to go abroad would have been stressful and from a cost standpoint I think tit worked out only slightly more expensive. Clinic I used has prices on the website and they have an egg bank subsidiary which has frozen egg available from donors from diverse backgrounds so I didn't have to wait (which was the main reason for wanting to go abroad). You can PM me for details. They also have an egg sharing programme. All prices are on the website. They're not cheap but so far I'm happy with them. In another 2 weeks I'll know for sure whether or not that happiness was justified as I just had my transfer!
Thank you! We are still the in the discussion stages as to our options but I shall definitely bear you in mind! I know that abroad was never an option for me. I am diabetic as well and I just feel that I would be more vulnerable abroad, though health services abroad can be fantastic, I think it would be less stressful. I am also deaf and whilst my husband is hearing to go abroad and struggle with accents, etc. would make me feel a bit isolated and, again, vulnerable. I know that stress is not conducive when one is trying to get pregnant so it is definitely not an option.
Good luck to you too. It's not a an easy one to make and the clinic will provide free counselling and other options for getting more information from donor conception networks etc before you make the decision. I agree in your situation, staying home for whatever treatment you go with would be best.
