Just an update after receiving all my pre IVF test results. My AMH result has come back as a surprise, a score of 7.8 which the doctor said it is low for my age as I'm 29. We've had ICSI due to my partner's sperm but never had AMH before. Also the follicle count has reduced from 22 to 12 which tells me that my fertility has declined rapidly since last year. We are going down the sperm donor route as we never considered that I would have fertility issues as well. Now it seems our chances of success are even smaller and this is our last attempt
Anyone have any experience of this or any insight xxx
I've come across this site which simplified my results

I remember this feeling only too well. We first entered the fertility journey due to my partner. He has a condition called azoospermia and had to have a surgical sperm retrieval. We had just about got our head around that when I got told I had low reserve I wasn't expecting this at all. My AMH was 8. I'm a good few years older than you. Our clinic looks at various factors including AMH and age.
Anyway fast forward to our 1st round of IVF. This did result in a BFN but it's not all bad. We also got 3 little frosties. One of which we've just had transferred. This was a great grade. I'm still awaiting on my BFP but we do have hope. Please try not to worry to much. Wishing you so much luck xx
Awww thank you for your kind words, it means alot. Gosh this journey is so painful for us all. I just can't seem to get my head around it all. Really hoping we get our bfp soon xx
12 follicles is still enough to get a good crop of eggs- I only had 12 detected prior to my last round and got 11 eggs, 9 of which were mature and suitable for ICSI. We didn’t get our BFP but that’s probably due to our male problems. Plenty of people get bfps from fewer eggs than that. And at least your risk of OHSS is lower... silver linings and all that...
Hey Lizzie, awww thanks for your kind message. It sounds like you had a similar round to my last round. I guess u only need 1 special embryo. My only issue is that last time I got mild ohss and nearly had to abandon the transfer which was awful. They had me on a super low dose and I still over stimulated. Now I'm totally lost on what they are going to do this time. My ovarian reserve is low which would mean higher dose of stimms but this could make me have ohss cos of what happened last time? This journey is so hard right?! Xx
I think a reduced fertility score makes you less likely to overstimulate so it might be less of a risk this time. But the doctors are the experts and they will know what to do. You’re far from the end of the line my lovely x
Hi Tara, my Amh was 1.1. I had 2 and at times 3 follicles and I was 38 when I started treatment. I was told that my only route was egg donor but I decided to try anyway with my eggs as I found difficult to find donors of my ethnicity. I never had many egg but the quality was really good and one of them became my 3 month old!
Please be positive. It is a good thing that you are doing treatment now and your numbers are not bad at all although I understand that you would have liked higher numbers given your age. Also a small number of follicles does not say anything about their quality.
I am sending you a big hug! Good luck with your treatment xx
Oh lovely congratulations on your little one. That's good to know. It's just so disheartening and I feel frustrated that I am even struggling with this. But as you say we must continue and stay strong xx
Morning, I am 30, have an AMH of 4.8 and had about 14 follicles at my baseline scan. I was put on the highest dose of stims and told that I may not have many eggs to collect but hopefully I would have a few good quality. I ended up having 9 eggs collected, 6 fertilised and 4 made it to 5 day blastocysts. I had one transferred and three frozen. I'm currently 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant from my first cycle (I still get nervous saying that as I can't quite believe it and don't want to jinx it!). Please don't be disheartened - it can happen. There is more and more emerging research that too much emphasis is being placed on AMH levels - in fact the midwife at the early pregnancy unit was saying this to me last week. Wishing you all the very best. Xx
Oh wow that's wonderful news and big congratulations to you hun! I must admit I'm starting to feel better after all the lovely responses and reassurance I've received. It means a lot x
I’m 25 and I have very low AMH for my age. I started my 1st round of ICSI early this year and they were able to collect 8 eggs, 3 fertilised! Unfortunately my fresh cycle didn’t work but I am doing my first FET this afternoon!
I’ve responded really well to all the drugs given too. I found out researching on the results made me feel so low! Don’t give up hope!
I don’t know what my AMH is but I’ve never been told I’ve had an issue with it. I got 15 follicles with 11 eggs (I think from memory). 9 of those fertilised and we got 4 blastos (1 excellent, 3 average) from them. My clinic said I had good number of eggs so yours don’t sound like bad results. Is it possible the number has decreased because the clinic put you on a lower dose of meds? 22 sounds High and like they could be starting to worry about OHSS so could have done it because of that?
Hiya it's all very confusing knowing what's happening. I had 22 follicles last time but they only collected 9 eggs with 8 being viable and 6 fertilised and then I was left with 3 for transfer. So from 22 to 3 when my AMH was fine is still a big drop. Now I'm looking at lower fertility with half the number of follicles to start with. This makes me wonder whether I will be lucky to even get 1 viable egg. The clinic however are going to up my dose this round so this should encourage more eggs. Just gonna have to wait and see how it all progresses I guess x
Going through your post i felt like this is my story.. we went for icsi because of my partner there we came to know that i have low AMH it was a shock for me too as i am 28.. i got 7 eggs 3 fertilised.. unfortunately i had 2 failed cycles.. waiting for 3rd fet.. still very much hopeful..😊
