Natural cycle FET the following cycle after a missed miscarriage with fresh transfer

Hi all, so I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. The doctor is now recommending a natural cycle FET in the next cycle after my D and C Scheduled for tomorrow. So used to taking so many shots and hormones and this makes me wonder if the natural way really works ? Any of you did the same with some positive results ? Would love to hear.

Hi positivevibe,

I haven’t done a natural FET, I went for a medicated one but I did look at both options and they both have the same success rates so it definitely does work! They do say you are more fertile the month or two after a mc so that might be why your doctor is recommending getting straight back on to another cycle. Good luck!xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. Also very interested in this as I like you have just had a miscarriage and ideally would like to go again with one of my frosties without hormones. I don't know about you but they have made me crazy, and miscarrying very slowly because the progesterone holds it in has been horrible. Id rather if it was not going to work for it to not take days and days to come out.

I can't help you with any personal experience but I've done a bit of reading around the subject so I can share what I've found so far. I've heard progesterone only saves about 1/1000 pregnancies - but there's a lot of conflicting information about there and I've read a few papers on the subject - it's all very recent findings and the consensus changes year on year. I think there was a paper from 2018 which suggested that progesterone is more helpful than previously thought so maybe this figure is higher. They've also found that spamming your body with progesterone has "no negative effects" so basically they do it just in case. Now when they say no negative effects I don't think they are including turning into an irrational anxious nutcase as a bad side effect!

Perhaps it is more important for fresh transfers than frozen ? I know that when fresh transfers are done, some of our progestrone making cells are drained from our follicles, and also the stims drugs mess up our ability to make progesterone. So on a frozen transfer perhaps we can just make enough progesterone on our own ?

Not what you're looking for?
