When to start your progesterone?

Quick query to those who have done FETs. When do you start your progesterone before transfer? I’m due to start tomorrow and then transfer in 6 days (next Wednesday). My wonder is what time of the day should I take my first pessary, AM or PM? I just know that even a few hours of progesterone either way can make the difference to implantation.

Hi , i start the progesterone on the 6th June at 16:00 and the transfer on the 11th at 14:00, so it’s 5 days after, but maybe depends on the clinic and the results you may have, maybe they work different, but as I know it’s after 5 days, maybe is wrong 😔but this is how my clinic told me to do

Hi! I wasn't told an specific time. I've started at 8 am, then 4 pm and 12am. My transfer was at 1.30pm 6 days later.

Thanks Elaine, that sounds about the same as me. They just didn’t tell me a specific time, just said AM. I took my first at 6am, but our transfers are usually around 11am 6 days later, so hopefully that’s still in the window.

Hi Kseye. I would check with your clinic, as they do vary how they want to prescribe it. Good luck! Diane

Hi your body n hormones are different from others... Check with clinic... Timing of pessaries is I prefer whenever u have time to lay down for 45mins....it is advice to lay down for 30mins but it might take 15mins to insert n adjust after medication... My clinic said to take it on the day of transfer. My FET is on June 9th 2020...they asked me to start on day of transfer so took it in the morng at 9:30 after my breakfast.... Transfer is at 12:30 pm... Got positive n m 5weeks 2days...doc asked me to continue pessaries until 12weeks....so your body type n hormones might different... Some might asked to take 1pessaary for some 2 and 3....so check with clinic.... Gud luck....

Hi did you use it vaginally on day of transfer? Or rectally?

I just applied vaginally as normal. As I take it at 6am and transfer wasn’t until 11am. Didn’t seem to cause an issue. If you take it later in the morning you could take it after. The nurse said either way is fine.

Thanks so much, I have been using vaginally but transfer is today, thought I might try rectally just so it's not so messy

I found the doctor seemed to be used to it, lol. She just cleaned it away. Good luck for transfer 🤞
