Progesterone - when to take after EC?

Hi lovely ladies,

After a rollercoaster week i’m going in for egg collection today earlier than planned due to OHSS. Although on my scan Weds I had many many follicles, only 3 were 16mm the rest between 8-15mm so i’m not hopeful we’re going to get quantity or quality eggs (only stimmed for 7 days 😔)

Anyhow, i’m trying to stay positive that i’ll have 1 survive to put back. My clinic say to start progesterone pessaries 2 days after egg collection, when on my first round i started them the day of.

Has anyone else experienced this? When i asked my clinic they just said ‘its their protocol’.

Hey lovely sorry to hear it's been a rollercoaster for you this week, hope you arent feeling too sore and bloated with risk of ohss 🤞

At my first clinic I had to do the pessary the morning of egg collection, but at our new clinic it says it will be 2 days after like yours! I guess it depends on the clinic, but it must feel a bit worrying when it's different to last time. But they are the experts and we have to put our trust in them xx good luck with your egg collection xx

Thank you!

I’ll a little bloated but feel fine otherwise! My bloods came back at 10,000+ so thats why we’re going for today, likely to be in-excess of 15,000 now from what the clinic were saying.

First time didnt work but i suspect i have low progesterone anyway so just worried.

Thanks for sharing your experience xx

I’ve not got to egg collection today however I’m worried they’re going to say this to me today! How did they come to the decision to take your eggs early? Hopefully it all goes well! ❤️

I went to my first monitoring scan Wednesday, all seemingly went well. Had x3 follicles at 16mm approx 15-20 at 8-15mm. Nurse said all looked great, i felt great! They were going to take some bloods and if they came back ok they’d probably drop my stim dose to tick me over for egg collection Monday to get those other follicles up to where they need to be.

They called me the same afternoon to say my bloods were over 10,000 - ive since looked online and presume this is estrogen? Which makes me at huge risk of OHSS. Nurse said they’d have been 30,000 by Monday and i’d be in hospital! They said they’re going to go ahead for EC today which i was completely gutted about 😞 we were going for higher dose to get more eggs this time and seemingly ended up with the opposite.

Fingers crossed your scan goes well! 💕🤞🏼 xx

Like you say, its quality over quantity. It's best ti have 4 amazing eggs and 2 fertilise than 20 rubbish ones. It's always difficult though as we always want one more etc. The risk of OHSS is just not worth it. Try to relax and take it as it comes. The more relaxed you are the more likely it will work. Honestly cant remember when I started my progesterone and I'm 11dp5dt so it wasnt even that long ago 🙈 Fingers crossed it all goes ok for you xxx

All done. Got 19 eggs! Not sure how many of those were mature, will find out tomorrow.

Hubby’s sperm was great as always. Fingers crossed for a good fertilisation rate 🤞🏼

Feeling a little sore but thats to be expected.

Been started on medication to help with the OHSS and need to go back on Monday for a scan and more bloods ready for transfer next Wednesday hopefully 🤞🏼 xx

Was feeling chuffed until Dr Google explained that women with OHSS / lots of eggs tend to have really shit fertilisation rate & poor quality embryos 🤦🏻‍♀️ X
