This is my first post on this forum, or any forum for that matter!
On 11th March my partner and I attended our first initial appointment regarding PGD. We agreed to go ahead and get the ball rolling with this treatment, but knew that it could take up to 9 months to collect all the DNA sampling and testing etc. Then ofcourse, CV19 came along and we're now 8 weeks down the line and it hasn't allowed us to even start blood samples. I felt excited to hear that treatments would be starting up again from 11th May but we'll probably be waaaay down the list to contact to get things moving. Has anyone else been through PGD? How long did your initial DNA testing et c take? Any advice would be much appreciated

Hey, welcome! Just wanted to reply even though I don't have direct experience with this myself. I had genetic blood testing on myself and found that I'm not a specific carrier for anything, so I opted not to have PGS or PGD testing. The blood test just took a few weeks to come back while I was waiting for IVF anyway.
I will consider genetic testing on my embryos in my next cycle if I keep having MC pregnancies though. My clinic said to me that testing of the embryo itself either PGS or PGD would only be an extra few weeks after the IVF procedure, so not much extra time at all. Best of luck to you! xx
I had my initial consultation in August last and from there they had to positively identify the defective gene which they did via blood tests. They then had to do the same for my mum and dad (my mum is the one who passed the condition to me). This took until January to get all of those results.
I could then be referred for my IVF and also
will need to create a probe which allows them to test for the genetic sequence in your embryos when you have your IVF.
The whole process has taken about 9/10 months. I am just starting my first cycle of IVF this week.
Good luck with it all!!
We had our probe created around a year ago and from consultation to starting drugs it was around 3 months. We didn’t have blood samples though. We had these plastic mascara wand swans sent through the post and you had to roll it around the inside of your mouth for a couple of minutes.
