After four and a half years of trying, I can finally announce that I am a mummy to baby Phoebe, born 17th December at 41 weeks gestation at a whopping 9lb 6oz.
After 2 natural losses, 2 very poor ivf rounds and then a diagnosis of balanced chromosome translocation on husband’s side, we didn’t think we would ever get here. In the end it was our third round of ivf icsi which led to this pregnancy... we were lucky enough to get one viable embryo and she implanted. We are aware that we have been incredibly fortunate and are also aware that we are very unlikely to ever welcome a sibling (I’m 40 and the pgd process is hugely expensive) so we are making the absolute most of every minute.
Like a crazy lady, I never really believed there would be a baby until I pushed her head out... at which point I sent my husband down to “the business end” to check that there really was a head there!😂
What got me through the difficult years was knowing that I was going to try everything I could until there was a child in my family. For me that journey would have finished with adoption rather than donor but the important thing was knowing we had a plan and were working on it. For all of you still working on your journeys and plans, especially anyone having to deal with the additional worries of chromosome or genetic disorders, I hope you all get your lucky breaks soon. Tnks u we have our initial consultation 8 August and awaiting bloods and other tests be done but we are having late cycle this mount by 20 days my nexted cycle is meant to start nexted weekend so I'm hoping and praying for miricle
